A historic agreement was signed between Vietjet and Airbus International, witnessed by Vietnam’s President Luong Cuong and French President Emmanuel Macron. Vietjet, Vietnam’s largest private airline, has placed a new order with Airbus for 20 wide-body A330-900 aircraft, marking a new era in the airline’s development strategy for the next decade.

The agreement was signed by Vietjet’s Chairwoman, Nguyen Thi Phuong Thao, and Airbus International’s Chairman, Wouter van Wersch, in Hanoi, during the French Head of State’s visit to Vietnam. This long-term commitment supports Vietjet’s ongoing international expansion, enabling the airline to increase flight frequencies on high-demand routes across the Asia-Pacific region and debut new long-haul services to Europe in the future.

The new contract with Vietjet doubles the firm orders for the A330neo family to 40 aircraft.

According to Vietjet’s Chairwoman, Nguyen Thi Phuong Thao, “Modern Airbus aircraft with advanced performance and fuel efficiency have accompanied Vietjet’s development and will help us expand our network. Vietjet is committed to long-term investment in a modern fleet, contributing to the economic and technological advancement between Vietnam and France. We will continue to pioneer, bringing green and sustainable flight opportunities to millions of people in Vietnam and worldwide.”

Wouter van Wersch, Chairman of Airbus International, expressed his pride in Vietjet’s choice of the A330neo as their wide-body aircraft to continue their successful journey. He added, “Vietjet has established itself as one of the world’s fastest-growing airlines, offering affordable fares with the characteristic Vietnamese hospitality. We are honored to accompany Vietjet in their expansion with the A330neo, building upon our strong partnership.”

The new contract doubles the firm orders for the A330neo family to 40 aircraft. Additionally, the airline has 96 single-aisle A320neo family aircraft on order. Currently, Vietjet operates an all-Airbus fleet of 115 aircraft, including 108 A320 family aircraft and seven A330-300s.

Equipped with the latest-generation Rolls-Royce Trent 7000 engines, the A330-900 offers a range of up to 13,300 km (7,125 nmi). The A330neo features the award-winning Airspace cabin, providing passengers with a unique travel experience, enhanced comfort, and spaciousness, featuring larger personal space, bigger overhead storage, the latest generation in-flight entertainment, and connectivity systems.

As of the end of April 2025, the A330 family has garnered over 1,800 confirmed orders from more than 130 customers worldwide. Like all Airbus production aircraft, the A330neo can operate using up to 50% sustainable aviation fuel (SAF), with the ambition to reach 100% by 2030.

Vietjet currently operates international routes to Australia, India, and Kazakhstan with wide-body A330 aircraft, offering passengers comfortable travel options, especially in the Business Class cabin, which features delicious and unique cuisine served by a professional, friendly, and vibrant cabin crew. The A330 wide-body aircraft will continue to accompany Vietjet in conquering farther destinations and meeting the diverse needs of passengers and tourists.
