Sags-HGS Ground Services JSC, a joint venture between SAGS and HGS, has officially commenced construction on its second aviation equipment and ground vehicle maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) facility. This is Package 4 of the Long Thanh International Airport project, which involves the construction of piles for the aircraft hygiene processing area and the ground vehicle maintenance area.

The new project plays a crucial role in providing full-service ground handling solutions to airlines and partners, encompassing aircraft, passenger, baggage, and cargo handling, as well as MRO services.

On the same day, Vietnam Airlines, through its subsidiary, VIAGS, also commenced a similar project. Their facility is designed to serve a minimum of 12.5 million passengers and 600,000 tons of cargo annually.

The SAGS-HGS joint venture brings over 20 years of ground handling experience at major airports such as Tan Son Nhat, Noi Bai, Da Nang, and Cam Ranh, serving more than 60 airlines. Meanwhile, VIAGS, with its 30 years of experience and a team of over 4,000 employees, was recognized by IATA in 2023 for its contributions to global aviation safety.

Long Thanh International Airport is a key national project and is envisioned as a regional connectivity hub and a new growth driver for Vietnam’s aviation industry. It is expected to become one of the largest airports in Asia and the world in the future. According to plans, the airport is slated for basic completion by the end of 2025 and is expected to become operational in 2026.
