This was the seventh official testing day since the Ho Chi Minh City Police Department took over driving tests and license issuance from the city’s Transportation Department (now the Construction Department).
According to reports, hundreds of candidates arrived as early as 7 am to prepare and receive test instructions.
One of the candidates, Ms. Nguyen Tram Anh, expressed her relief at being able to take the test after months of waiting. The transfer of testing responsibilities to the Ho Chi Minh City Police Department had caused a backlog of applications, including Ms. Anh’s.

PC08 is expected to collaborate with 18 driving test centers across Ho Chi Minh City to conduct continuous tests for both cars and motorcycles.
From May 20 to May 31, PC08 will organize tests for 700 candidates per day, including 300 car tests and 400 motorcycle tests. Starting in June, they plan to increase the number of testing boards to clear the current backlog of applications.

Over the past six days of testing, approximately 4,500 applications have been processed. PC08 conducts tests from Monday to Sunday, with increased capacity on weekends to accommodate more candidates and clear the backlog.
Helpful Innovations
Circular 12/2025 of the Ministry of Public Security outlines the content of the driving tests for categories A1, A, and B1, including both theory and practical in-yard tests. If a candidate fails the theory test, they can still proceed to the practical exam. Passing either the theory or practical test qualifies for a one-year result retention, allowing candidates to retake the failed portion within this period.
This regulation is praised for saving significant time and costs for both test takers and organizers.
