On May 26, Vietjet and Airbus signed an agreement for the purchase of 20 new A330neo wide-body aircraft, promoting economic cooperation between Vietnam and France and Europe, and supporting the airline’s development plans for the next decade.

The agreement was solemnly exchanged between the two sides under the witness of Vietnamese President Luong Cuong and French President Emmanuel Macron during the French Head of State’s visit to Vietnam.

This long-term order brings the total number of A330neo wide-body aircraft ordered to 40, supporting Vietjet’s ongoing international expansion, allowing the airline to increase flights on high-demand routes across the Asia-Pacific region, and debut new long-haul routes to Europe in the future.

Vietnam and France have always left impressive marks in their bilateral trade relations since the establishment of diplomatic relations. The strategic cooperation between Vietjet and Airbus has contributed significantly to bilateral trade, promoting tourism, and creating more jobs for French citizens.

This move also demonstrates the airline’s commitment to long-term investment and sustainable development, fostering economic, cultural, and tourism connections between Vietnam and its international partners.

Sharing his thoughts on the agreement, Mr. Wouter van Wersch, Chairman of Airbus International, expressed his pride in Vietjet’s choice of the A330neo as their wide-body aircraft to continue their successful journey. He added that Airbus is honored to accompany Vietjet in its future expansion plans.

Vietjet’s President, Ms. Nguyen Thi Phuong Thao, emphasized the role of modern Airbus aircraft with advanced performance and fuel efficiency in the airline’s development. She reaffirmed their long-term investment in a modern fleet to promote economic and technological relations between the two countries, and Vietjet’s pioneering role in providing green and sustainable flying opportunities for millions of Vietnamese and global citizens.

With this new contract, the number of A330neo aircraft ordered by Vietjet will double to 40. In addition to the wide-body fleet, the airline also has an order for 96 single-aisle A320neo aircraft to support its strategy of operating an environmentally friendly and fuel-efficient fleet. To date, Vietjet operates an all-Airbus fleet of 115 aircraft, including 108 A320s and 7 wide-body A330-300s.

The A330neo, specifically the A330-900 version, is powered by the latest-generation Rolls-Royce Trent 7000 engines and can fly continuously for up to 13,300 km, efficiently serving medium and long-haul routes. Its award-winning Airspace cabin offers a superior flying experience with spaciousness, refined design, larger baggage storage, intelligent lighting, and modern entertainment and connectivity amenities.

As of the end of April 2025, the A330 family has recorded over 1,800 orders from more than 130 global customers. Similar to Airbus’ new-generation aircraft in production, the A330neo can operate on sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) with a blend of up to 50%, and aims for full SAF capability by 2030 – a significant step towards green aviation.

Currently, Vietjet operates international routes using wide-body A330 aircraft to Australia, India, and Kazakhstan, offering passengers a premium flying experience with a comfortable Business Class, diverse culinary options, and a dedicated team of young and professional cabin crew.

The expansion of the A330neo fleet will continue to accompany Vietjet in its journey to conquer farther destinations, effectively serving the growing travel demands of local and international passengers.
