Vietnam Airlines has inaugurated the first project within its aviation services ecosystem at the Long Thanh International Airport. The project is undertaken by Vietnam Airlines Ground Services Company (VIAGS), a subsidiary of Vietnam Airlines, as the investor and direct implementer.

The project, “Construction and Business of Aircraft, Equipment Maintenance, and Commercial Ground Technical Services No.1,” is part of Component Project 4 of the Long Thanh Airport’s aviation service works. This area is planned for aviation enterprises to invest in the construction of aircraft maintenance, ground services, catering, logistics, and technical support facilities, forming a modern and internationally standardized ecosystem for operations.

Mr. Ta Manh Hung, a member of the Board of Directors of Vietnam Airlines, shared at the event, “As the National Flag Carrier, Vietnam Airlines proactively participates in the development of Long Thanh, a strategic infrastructure project of national and regional significance. Through our subsidiaries, we commit to mobilizing all resources within our ecosystem to contribute to making Long Thanh one of Asia’s leading air transit hubs.”

This VIAGS project is the first to be implemented within the group of items managed by Vietnam Airlines’ subsidiaries at Long Thanh Airport. It marks a significant step in the airline’s comprehensive investment strategy for ground services at its future base airport, in addition to key airports such as Noi Bai, Da Nang, and Tan Son Nhat.

Upon completion, the facility will provide aircraft and equipment maintenance services, along with ground technical services, capable of serving a minimum of 12.5 million passengers and 600,000 tons of cargo annually. The services will adhere to the quality standards that VIAGS currently applies for over 90 domestic and international airlines.

The project not only serves operations at Long Thanh but also aligns with Vietnam Airlines’ long-term strategy for sustainable development, enhanced competitiveness, and international integration. Following VIAGS, Vietnam Airlines will continue to promote other components such as technical services, catering, logistics, etc., to build a closed and modern aviation ecosystem.

The proactive participation of Vietnam Airlines and its subsidiaries contributes to accelerating the progress of the Long Thanh project, materializing the goal of making it a new symbol of Vietnam’s aviation industry in the new era.

With 30 years of experience and a team of over 4,000 professional employees, VIAGS is the leading force in Vietnam Airlines’ ground handling services. In 2023, the company was recognized by the International Air Transport Association (IATA) at the WSOC conference for its outstanding contributions to global aviation safety and operations.
