Hanoi’s Department of Construction has announced that two new bridges, Tran Hung Dao and Ngoc Hoi, are set to break ground on August 19 or National Day, September 2, as part of the city’s plan for six bridges to be constructed starting in 2025. The preparation and investment plans for these bridges are now almost complete.

Ngoc Hoi Bridge, with a total investment of over VND 11 trillion and a length of 7.5 km, will connect Hanoi and Hung Yen provinces by spanning the Red River. Starting at Km0+00, where it connects to the end of the Phuc La – Van Phu section of the Ring Road 3.5, and ending at Km7+500, where it meets the Ring Road 3.5 about 700m from the left bank of the Red River towards the Hanoi – Hai Phong Highway in Van Giang district, Hung Yen province.
The main bridge over the Red River will be approximately 680m long and 32.3m wide, accommodating six lanes for motor vehicles and two mixed-use lanes. The total length of the approach roads is about 6.52 km, and their width is 33m. The project comprises five components, three of which involve site clearance and compensation in Thanh Tri and Gia Lam districts (Hanoi) and Van Giang district (Hung Yen province), and two involve construction, including the Ngoc Hoi Bridge and its approach roads, as well as the construction of parallel roads in both Hanoi and Van Giang, Hung Yen. The project is scheduled for completion between 2025 and 2028.
Tran Hung Dao Bridge, with a total investment of approximately VND 8,670 billion, will span from the intersection of Tran Hung Dao and Tran Thanh Tong streets in Phan Chu Trinh ward, Hoan Kiem district, to Nguyen Van Linh street in Gia Thuy ward, Long Bien district. With a total length of about 5.5 km, the bridge will accommodate six lanes for motor vehicles. The Hanoi Transport Project Management Board organized an architectural design contest for the bridge, which will feature an arch structure with a main span of 900 m and six spans in total, including the bridge and the approach roads. The construction will use reinforced concrete, and the project is classified as a special traffic work. The project is expected to be completed between 2025 and 2027.
