On May 27, Mr. Le Quang Nam, Vice Chairman of the Da Nang People’s Committee, signed a document sent to the People’s Committee of Quang Nam Province to address the scarcity and stabilize sand prices in the market.

Da Nang City requested that the People’s Committee of Quang Nam Province direct its Department of Construction to inspect, update, and adjust sand prices so that the announced prices are in line with market prices as per the regulations of the Minister of Construction.

In case the announced prices are already in line with market prices, no adjustment is necessary. Instead, a written response is requested to be sent to the Da Nang Department of Construction, providing information as a basis for replying to organizations and individuals.

Sand stockpile in Hoa An Ward, Cam Le District, Da Nang City

Additionally, Da Nang City requested that Quang Nam Province direct its relevant authorities to coordinate with mine management units to inspect mining activities and take measures to stabilize the supply and prices of construction sand in the market.

According to the Da Nang People’s Committee, sand prices in the locality have surged, and the supply is scarce. Many project investors and households have reported difficulties in accessing sand for construction, significantly impacting the progress of both public and private projects, especially public investment projects and individual housing projects.

According to surveys conducted by project management boards in Da Nang, such as the Project Management Board for Transport and Agricultural Construction and the Project Management Board for Site Clearance and Compensation in Son Tra District, the market prices of construction sand and plaster sand currently range from VND 650,000 to VND 800,000 per cubic meter, which is several times higher than the announced prices, and there are no valid invoices or receipts.

Meanwhile, according to Announcements No. 82/TB-SXD dated April 15, 2025, and No. 123/TB-SXD dated May 9, 2025, of the Quang Nam Department of Construction, the price of sand at Dai An stockpile (Dai Loc, Quang Nam) is VND 190,000 per cubic meter – the closest location to Da Nang and considered the lowest announced price currently.

In reality, for many years, construction projects in Da Nang have mainly relied on sand from Quang Nam, mostly based on the announced prices from the Quang Nam Department of Construction, especially from mines in Dai Loc District. However, the current announced prices do not reflect the actual market situation, causing difficulties in estimating and auditing project costs.

The Da Nang People’s Committee emphasized the urgency of taking measures to adjust sand prices and ensure its supply to stabilize the construction material market and guarantee the progress of key infrastructure projects in the area.
