Revitalizing the Stagnant Child Car Seat Industry

For years, the global child car seat industry has primarily revolved around one factor: safety. While this is a prerequisite, the absolute focus on technical specifications, crash standards, and emergency protection has led the market to become dry and disconnected from users.

Innovation was limited to minor upgrades in materials and features, while the overall experience, from usability to aesthetics and emotional connection between parents and children, was largely neglected. Many products could ensure safety in crash tests but fell short in providing comfort for prolonged sitting and lacked empathy for modern parents’ aesthetic sensibilities.

This created a demand for a new generation of seats that not only met safety standards but also appealed to the emotions of family members.

Maple&Co’s Revolutionary Vision to Redefine the Child Car Seat Industry

Maple&Co is backed by Chongqing Adient, the world’s largest automotive seat supplier in terms of revenue and market share (2016), with over two decades of experience collaborating with leading automotive brands such as Volvo, Ford, Lincoln, and NIO. Adient is currently Volvo’s exclusive seat distribution partner.

With the ambition to create a product that could redefine the entire child car seat industry, Maple&Co turned to IDEO, a globally renowned design company known for creating the computer mouse for Apple and being a strategic partner to corporations such as Samsung, Ford, IKEA, and Nestlé.

For this project, the product team set two significant challenges: how to deliver a truly remarkable experience for parents and design a seat that not only surpasses basic safety standards but also ensures the utmost comfort for children.

The Unspoken Crisis of Personal Identity in Parenting

Through hundreds of interviews and in-depth surveys with modern families, the IDEO design team uncovered an unspoken truth: modern parents have a strong sense of personal identity before having children, but this identity fades or is overshadowed overnight once they become “someone’s father” or “someone’s mother”. The need to express their individuality, aesthetics, and lifestyle remains strong, but current child care products are too focused on the children and neglect the parents.

IDEO realized that this was not just an industry gap but an emotional void. This insight inspired them to create a seat that is not just “great for the child” but also “beautifully appealing to parents.”

Not Just a Safe Seat – The Most Aesthetically Pleasing and Sophisticated Car Seat Ever Created

During the development of the Maple Nautilus, when IDEO first presented its minimalist design with muted tones, wood-like veneer, and a friendly shape, the research group was surprised by the consumer feedback:

“I’ve never seen a child car seat like this.”

“I didn’t think a product for children could be as beautiful as high-end furniture.”

“This seat reminds me of Apple products with their minimalist design and focus on user experience.”

This unexpectedly beautiful design became the “signature of Maple&Co” because it not only stood out from the rest but also touched on the deep-seated desires of modern parents for a child product with aesthetics and identity.

After its official launch, the product won a series of prestigious design awards, including the Red Dot (Germany), IDEA (USA), G-Mark (Japan), IAI, and the Tiger Smile awards. It became one of the best-selling brands in the industry, surpassing decades-old competitors.

65 Patents and Intellectual Property Rights to Ensure the Ultimate Comfort for Children

Maple&Co develops its products based on a design philosophy centered around user experience, with the primary focus on children. Every curve, material, angle, and structural detail is meticulously calculated to optimize the child’s sitting, support, and relaxation in all states.

Building on three decades of experience in the luxury car seat industry, the company not only uses premium materials but also applies automotive supply chains and stringent PPM quality control systems to ensure near-perfect accuracy in every product detail.

Notably, Maple&Co is one of the few child car seat brands worldwide that applies the NVH (Noise-Vibration-Harshness) standard, originally intended for high-end automotive interiors. This adjustment ensures a resonance frequency of 21Hz, which falls outside the dangerous ranges for internal organs (4-12Hz) and the young brain (25Hz), reducing micro-vibrations and enhancing the sense of comfort while minimizing prolonged physiological stimulation during travel.

Additionally, Maple&Co holds exclusive patents for its ergonomic design, featuring a 1:4 seat ratio that perfectly matches the proportions of a child’s body, providing optimal protection for the spine, neck, and shoulders in both sitting and reclined positions.

Official Launch in Vietnam

In Vietnam, Maple&Co is exclusively distributed by SAP Bebe Distribution Company Limited, a pioneer in bringing premium, internationally-designed, and safe products closer to Vietnamese families embracing a modern lifestyle.
