While international markets experienced a decline, the domestic market saw a slight increase. Vinh Hoan’s catfish business reported an 8% decrease in revenue.

Seafood export businesses such as Vinh Hoan are facing an uncertain business environment due to the Trump administration’s retaliatory tax policies. On a positive note, the high tariffs have been postponed, pending negotiations, giving the Dong Thap-based company more time to penetrate the US market.

However, export revenue to the US only reached VND 371 billion in April, a 10% decrease compared to the same period last year.

Leaders at Vinh Hoan remain confident about the competitiveness of catfish, a source of affordable seafood protein for Americans.

At the annual general meeting on April 24, Chairwoman Truong Thi Le Khanh reassured shareholders that catfish from Vietnam has an advantage in price negotiations with US importers due to its suitability to American tastes and the limited alternative sources of catfish. As such, Vinh Hoan is in a good position to avoid having to share the burden of high retaliatory tariffs imposed by the US, if they materialize.
