Yamaha’s upcoming release of the NVX V3 in Vietnam has Yamaha fans excited, especially with the recent announcement from an authorized Yamaha dealer in Hanoi that they are now taking deposits for the latest version of this sports scooter.

While Yamaha Vietnam has not yet released official information, the dealer’s move confirms that the bike’s market launch is imminent. Leaked information from earlier this year indicated that Yamaha NVX V3 had registered with the Vietnam Registry in January and was spotted undergoing testing in Soc Son, Hanoi, in the same month.

The Yamaha NVX V3 is an upgraded version of the popular sports scooter in Vietnam. One of the most notable improvements is the all-new electronically-controlled transmission system, a revolutionary feature in the country’s common scooter segment.

Specifically, the Yamaha NVX V3 will feature the Yamaha Electric Continuously Variable Transmission (YECVT), which includes a small electric motor that controls the clutch instead of relying on centrifugal force like traditional transmissions. This electric control gives riders more authority over the transmission and has led Yamaha to design two riding modes: T-Mode for urban commuting and S-Mode for when you need that extra boost.

In addition to the riding modes, the Yamaha NVX V3 introduces the Y-Shift feature, offering three response levels: Low, Medium, and High. This allows riders to proactively select the appropriate drive level according to their riding conditions. For instance, when going downhill, riders can increase engine braking to reduce the load on the braking system and prevent brake failure.

The electronically-controlled transmission not only ensures smoother riding but also optimizes fuel efficiency, enhances stability, and gives riders more control over their vehicle.

These improvements have Yamaha enthusiasts anticipating that the NVX V3 will be a formidable competitor in its segment, particularly against the Honda Air Blade, a prominent name in the market.

Aside from the transmission upgrade, another reason for the high expectations surrounding the Yamaha NVX V3 is its impressive fuel economy. According to the energy label in the documents published on the Vietnam Registry’s portal, the Yamaha NVX V3 consumes approximately 2.21 liters per 100 km, an exceptional figure for a sports scooter with a powerful engine.

The documents also mention that the scooter is equipped with a 155.1cc engine that delivers 11.3 kW (15.15 hp) at 8,000 rpm and a maximum torque of 14.2 Nm at 6,500 rpm.

Potential color options for the Vietnamese market.

Private importers have already brought the Yamaha NVX V3 from Indonesia to Vietnam, selling it at a premium price of up to 90 million VND. This high price reflects the import costs, taxes, and profit margin of the distributors. However, with Yamaha’s official launch and authorized dealers taking deposits, the NVX V3 is expected to become more affordable.

The current Yamaha NVX V2 is priced from 55.3 million VND. If Yamaha maintains its strategy of offering reasonable prices, as seen with previous versions, the official NVX V3 could fall within a similar price range, making it an attractive option for those who appreciate a sporty, modern style without compromising on operational costs.

Additionally, Yamaha’s official distribution of the NVX V3 in Vietnam ensures that customers will have access to warranties, after-sales services, and genuine spare parts.
