In a recent urgent meeting, the Economic and Budget Committee of the Provincial People’s Council inspected and approved the Resolution on the implementation of the Project on land retrieval, compensation, support, and resettlement for the construction of the high-speed route from Ca Mau city to Dat Mui.
As per the master plan, the Ca Mau – Dat Mui expressway will be approximately 90 km long, with four lanes, and is scheduled for completion before 2030.
Thus far, Ca Mau province has almost finalized the determination of the scope of land retrieval, compensation, support, and resettlement for site clearance. Accordingly, to construct the Ca Mau – Dat Mui expressway, the province plans to clear 562 hectares of land across seven districts: Thoi Binh, U Minh, Tran Van Thoi, Cai Nuoc, Phu Tan, Nam Can, and Ngoc Hien.
The compensation cost is estimated to be over VND 2,000 billion, sourced from the provincial budget and central government support.
Of the total 562 hectares of land to be retrieved for the project: approximately 90 hectares are forest land; nearly 44 hectares are protective forests; 348 hectares are for aquaculture and rice cultivation; the remaining land is for rural residential, perennial crop, transportation, river, and other purposes.
Ca Mau province is responsible for implementing the site clearance project independently from the investment project for the construction of the expressway, which is carried out by the Ministry of National Defense. The Prime Minister has directed the commencement of the expressway from Ca Mau city to Dat Mui on August 19, 2025.
The project is approved under an emergency procedure to ensure the urgent progress requirements.
Along with the East-West transversal routes, the Ca Mau – Dat Mui expressway will become a pillar for marine economic development, harnessing the potential and strengths of the southernmost region of the country, and ensuring solid national defense and security.
