Hai Duong Lychee Season Kicks Off with First Export Lot
On the morning of May 30, the Hai Duong Department of Agriculture and Environment organized an event titled “Hai Duong Lychee Season” and officially exported the first batch of lychees from Thanh Ha district for the 2025 season.
This year, the total lychee cultivation area in Hai Duong province is 8,800 hectares, with an estimated yield of 60,000 tons. Of this, Thanh Ha district accounts for more than 3,280 hectares, with a yield of approximately 38,000 tons, including 28,000 tons of early-ripening lychees. Lychees are also grown in significant quantities in Chi Linh city, Tu Ky district, and several other districts. In recent years, Thanh Ha lychees have been produced according to VietGAP and GlobalGAP standards, achieving geographical indication certification, traceable origin stickers, and are being proposed as a 5-star OCOP product.
At the 2025 Thanh Ha Lychee Garden Opening Ceremony, Mr. Tran Van Quan, Vice Chairman of the Hai Duong Provincial People’s Committee, emphasized that this event is a key activity in a series of trade promotion events aimed at promoting the brand, enhancing the value, and expanding the consumption market for Thanh Ha lychees – the locality’s key specialty agricultural product.

Hai Duong officially opens its gardens and exports the first batch of lychees for 2025.
Hai Duong currently has 68 lychee-growing areas certified for production according to VietGAP and GlobalGAP standards, covering a total area of 721 hectares. The province has issued 198 growing area codes, including 66 codes for exports to China, 38 to Japan, 41 to the US, 45 to Australia, and 8 to Thailand. Additionally, 16 packing facilities with a total capacity of up to 650 tons/day are ready to serve export shipments.
Apart from traditional markets like China, Japan, the US, and Australia, Thanh Ha lychees are now being introduced to premium markets such as France, the UAE, and potential countries in Africa and South America. Enterprises have committed to continuing to accompany farmers and the province in promoting consumption and accessing other demanding markets worldwide.
At this year’s Thanh Ha Lychee Trade Promotion Conference, companies with extensive export experience, such as Rồng Đỏ Co., Ltd. and Ameii Vietnam, participated in signing large consumption orders.

Thanh Ha lychees are now reaching premium markets such as France, the UAE, and potential countries in Africa and South America.
Mr. Mai Xuan Thìn, CEO of Rồng Đỏ Co., Ltd., shared: “We have prepared the necessary infrastructure and personnel for a bountiful harvest of Thanh Ha lychees. In addition to traditional markets like Japan, Australia, the US, and the Middle East, we are expanding into Canada and Europe this year. The lychees this season are of better quality and appearance. We have already exported some batches to Australia, and this morning, Australians got to enjoy Thanh Ha lychees straight from the gardens.”

Thanh Ha district has approximately 3,280 hectares of lychee cultivation, with an estimated yield of 38,000 tons for 2025, and harvesting has commenced.
Currently, the early-ripening lychees of Thanh Ha are being harvested. From the beginning of the season, the Department of Industry and Trade has proactively collaborated with retail corporations, wholesale markets, and technology enterprises to establish stable distribution channels for Thanh Ha lychees.
China remains the largest market for the province’s lychees, absorbing about 50% of the fruit yield. Hai Duong has the advantage of an earlier harvest than other provinces, attracting Chinese traders. However, to reduce dependence on the Chinese market, the province has directed efforts towards expanding the planning of growing areas according to the requirements and standards of different importing countries, especially demanding markets like Japan, the US, Australia, and the EU. Emphasis is placed on increasing the areas of lychee production that meet VietGAP and GlobalGAP standards, enhancing the issuance of growing area codes, implementing origin tracing, and providing information on pesticide residue testing and production and packaging processes.

Hai Duong aims for 100% of its lychee yield to meet food safety standards and maximize exports to demanding markets.
With the set goals, Hai Duong aims for 100% of its lychee yield to meet food safety standards and maximize exports to demanding markets to diversify consumption channels, reduce dependence on a single market, increase selling prices, improve farmers’ incomes, and contribute to the province’s socio-economic development.
