On May 30, Tran Thanh Truc, a resident of Ngoc Chanh commune in Dam Doi district, Ca Mau, shared on social media that her family had caught a unique, brightly-colored yellow shrimp.
The rare yellow shrimp, an unusual catch for a Ca Mau farmer.
According to Ms. Truc, on May 27, while checking their shrimp traps, her family came across an unusual yellow shrimp. Weighing 50 grams, this shrimp stood out with its vibrant yellow color, distinct from the typical grayish-green or brown shades of regular shrimp.
One of the most distinctive features of this shrimp is its three whiskers, as opposed to the usual two found on common shrimp. Fascinated by this rare find, Ms. Truc decided to keep it alive and observe its growth rather than sell it.
Comments poured in on social media, with many suggesting that the yellow shrimp was a rare mutant. Some advised releasing it back into the wild, as such shrimp are often challenging to keep alive. However, others encouraged Ms. Truc to keep it, believing that the yellow color brought good luck.
