Authorities have identified the suspect as Nguyen Van Bao (born 1992, permanent residence in Tan Ky district, Nghe An province). Bao was arrested near Ho Yen Trung lake in Uong Bi city, Quang Ninh province.

The Criminal Police Department, professional units of the Quang Ninh Provincial Police, and the Ministry of Public Security mobilized hundreds of officers, warriors, and detectives to surround and arrest the suspect all last night (May 29) and today (May 30).

Many task forces coordinated to patrol and control the roads, adjacent areas, and borders throughout the night to capture the suspect.

Earlier, at the end of yesterday afternoon, at the BIDV transaction office in Yen Thanh ward, Uong Bi city, a masked man in a blue shirt and a baseball cap rushed into the bank and threatened the staff to rob the money.

Bao was arrested by the detectives.

The whole incident lasted about 20 seconds. According to initial estimates, the stolen amount was about VND 400 million.

After the robbery, the suspect fled the scene and hid the money in small amounts in different locations.

The police have recovered hundreds of millions of dong as evidence. The authorities have transferred Nguyen Van Bao to the headquarters of the Criminal Police Department for further investigation and clarification of the case.
