On May 30, a national scientific conference on the theme of “Green Economy and Sustainable Development” was held in Lam Dong, organized by Ho Chi Minh City National University in collaboration with Lam Dong Province. The event attracted approximately 200 delegates.
In-depth discussions revolved around practical themes such as the development of high-tech agriculture in conjunction with rural tourism; organizing economic space post-merger; applying digital transformation and AI for green development; waste treatment for organic input; environmental assessment, eco-tourism development, and the roadmap to achieving Net Zero Carbon and ESG.
Mr. Dinh Van Tuan, Vice Chairman of the People’s Committee of Lam Dong Province, delivered a speech.
At the conference, Mr. Dinh Van Tuan, Vice Chairman of the People’s Committee of Lam Dong Province, affirmed that the province is focusing on green economy, digital economy, and circular economy as key development pillars, in line with the orientation of growth model innovation and long-term competitiveness enhancement.
According to Mr. Tuan, Lam Dong has unique advantages in soil, climate, landscape, and high-quality human resources. These foundations enable the locality to strongly develop high-tech agriculture, eco-tourism, and sustainable services.
“The time after the merger of Lam Dong, Binh Thuan, and Dak Nong provinces is a golden opportunity to form a new growth pole with large scale and strong momentum, capable of leading the green development trend in the Central – Highlands region,” emphasized the Vice Chairman of Lam Dong Provincial People’s Committee.
The new Lam Dong Province aims to become the nucleus of linkage, creating a complete and sustainable value chain.
Contributing to the conference, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Minh Tam, Vice Director of Ho Chi Minh City National University, shared his view that the world is rapidly transitioning to a green economic model. In this context, Vietnam and Lam Dong cannot afford to be left behind.
Mr. Tam stated that green growth is an integral part of the sustainable development strategy. The three key tasks are to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and promote clean energy; green production and consumption; and change the community’s lifestyle to be more environmentally friendly.
Meanwhile, from an academic perspective, Prof. Dr. Mai Trong Nhuan, former Director of Hanoi National University, expected that Lam Dong would become the country’s leading provider of green and clean agricultural products and an ideal destination for domestic and international tourists.
Lam Dong aims to welcome approximately 11 million tourists in 2025.
Prof. Dr. Mai Trong Nhuan also emphasized: “Lam Dong not only leads in high-tech agriculture but also possesses golden conditions to become a ‘health charging station’ where nature, technology, and sustainable lifestyle converge.”
