Perhaps one of the reasons for this harmonious look is Hung’s eye for beauty, stemming from his profession in the fashion industry, specifically in bespoke tailoring, which demands precision in every stitch and seam. Hung is the owner of a renowned bespoke tailoring brand in Hanoi, specializing in the Sartorial style and equestrian wear, named Hessian Equestrian.

In addition to the VF 7, Hung also owns a VF 3. For this CEO in the tailoring industry, any newly launched vehicle that suits his taste and meets his needs is a must-buy, and both of these VinFast models were purchased as soon as they hit the market.

We had the pleasure of chatting with Le Thanh Hung to gain insights into his aesthetic perspective, the reasons behind his choices of the VF 7 and VF 3, and the connection between his passion for handcrafted fashion and his vehicle culture.

Some believe that today’s youth tend to choose vehicles based on aesthetics and individuality. As someone with an eye for beauty and a professional in the fashion industry, do you share this view when it comes to choosing a vehicle?

I still remember a quote shared by a master craftsman with 40 years of experience: “A suit makes one more composed without being told.” This quote has stuck with me ever since. I firmly believe that fashion is not just about clothing but also about a way of life—a life that is selective, tasteful, and profound.

I always keep in mind that aesthetic sense is not merely about outward appearance but also about the lens through which we perceive the world and the way we choose to live our lives every day. As a practitioner in the bespoke tailoring industry, I value every detail, from the fabric material to the stitches, the proportions, and the structure of the garment. A well-tailored suit is the result of a harmonious balance between aesthetics, individuality, and functionality.

Therefore, when it comes to choosing a vehicle, I seek more than just a means of transportation. I look for a sense of harmony, a design with a clear and refined philosophy, something modern yet distinct, and unique without being flashy. The VinFast electric vehicles I own give me that feeling.

With your professional insight into tailoring, how would you describe the VF 7 and VF 3 in more detail?

I often liken a well-tailored suit to a perfectly fitted armor for modern gentlemen. Just as a carefully tailored suit involves precise color matching to one’s skin tone, neat stitches, and a well-fitted lapel or shoulder, every detail contributes to the overall demeanor it conveys. A well-tailored suit speaks for itself, and when the wearer enters a room, everyone knows that he has his own standards.

The same goes for choosing a vehicle. To me, the VF 7 is akin to a double-breasted suit in a classic navy or charcoal color—elegant, refined, and exuding a strong presence, suitable for occasions when a powerful presence is required.

On the other hand, the VF 3 reminds me of a light-colored linen suit paired with an open-collar shirt and loafers—elegant, refined, youthful, and tasteful. It reflects a flexible lifestyle: aesthetically pleasing, principled, yet not rigid.

In other words, the VF 7, with its robust and decisive lines, maintains a unique sense of elegance, similar to a perfectly tailored Italian suit that exudes my personality. What I love about this vehicle is its beautiful and stylish “asymmetric universe” design and the exhilarating driving experience it offers. This car truly satisfies my passion for driving.

As for the VF 3, it’s like a “smart casual” outfit—compact, flexible, youthful, and full of character. Its short wheelbase makes it extremely maneuverable in urban environments, narrow alleys, and tight spaces. In fact, I’ve driven through alleys so narrow that no other car but motorcycles and bicycles could fit through. This is my go-to vehicle for city driving, especially during rush hour.

Both vehicles, like my favorite suits, are intentional choices, not for show, but to allow me to be my best self. I also chose VinFast out of national pride, as it is a Vietnamese brand.

As someone passionate about both vehicles and fashion, have you ever thought of combining your talent in fashion to do something unique in the automotive industry, such as personalizing your vehicles?

It’s true that I’m passionate about vehicles, especially those that showcase creativity and bear a unique signature like the VinFast VF 7 and VF 3. However, to be honest, I’ve never thought of trying to create something to “wow” people or to put my stamp on it. What makes me happiest at the moment is probably creating shared value and inspiring others who share my passions, so that those who love cars and beauty can also find joy and precision, similar to wearing a perfectly tailored suit.

Nevertheless, I do have a small ambition. In tailoring, there are two concepts that I particularly admire: “tailoring to measurements,” which ensures a perfect fit, and “tailoring to style,” which ensures that the garment reflects the wearer’s spirit. With these concepts in mind, I’m contemplating “tailoring” projects for vehicles with a similar philosophy. This could involve designing personalized interior accessories or curating collections that blend Sartorial spirit with inspiration from different vehicle models.

My goal is not to create something “eye-catching” but to create long-lasting value—something that car enthusiasts would appreciate as much as stepping into a high-end tailor’s shop. If this is recognized as my signature, I would be grateful. But even if it’s not, knowing that I’ve done what I love, in the most meticulous way possible, is enough for me.

Are you considering adding any other vehicles to your collection in the future?

When the opportunity arises, I will definitely add a VF 9 to my garage. I see this model very differently from the VF 3 and VF 7. It’s not meant for daily personal use but is ideal for long-distance family trips. The VF 9 is a powerful, spacious, modern, and comfortable vehicle with a luxurious design.

For me, the VF 9 is a must-have. It’s like a bespoke suit tailored for formal occasions that call for politeness, stability, and maximum comfort. If the VF 3 is a casual blazer for narrow streets and the VF 7 is a double-breasted suit for the modern man, then the VF 9 is the tuxedo for important events.

A tuxedo is not for everyday wear. It’s for special occasions that require both composure, demeanor, and comfort during extended periods. The VF 9 follows this principle. This vehicle is not meant for personal enjoyment, hanging out with friends, or casual coffee runs; it’s designed for more formal occasions and for transporting loved ones on long journeys.
