On May 30, the Quang Binh Provincial Police revealed that their economic police force had cracked a case of illegal trading of value-added invoices involving multiple companies registered in Yen Bai and Bac Giang but operating across Vietnam.
The three companies implicated are Win Group Joint Stock Company (Yen Bai City), IQ Group Joint Stock Company (Yen Bai City), and Sunflower Trading and Services Co., Ltd. (Hiep Hoa, Bac Giang Province).
The investigation determined that between 2022 and 2024, Nguyen Thi Duyen, an accountant for HX Nework Co., Ltd., and the aforementioned three companies, colluded with others to illegally trade 621 value-added invoices.
These invoices were purchased from “shell” companies operating in Ho Chi Minh City and southern provinces, with a total goods value of nearly VND 350 billion, a figure that raised red flags for authorities.
So far, the police have decided to prosecute and arrest three individuals: Nguyen Nhu Thanh, a contributing member of Win Group; Le The Hai – Director of Win Group; and Le Quang Hai, owner of IQ Group.
The accused are being investigated for illegal invoice trading under Clause 2, Article 203 of the Criminal Code.
The Quang Binh Provincial Police will continue to unravel the involvement of individuals and organizations and focus on recovering the lost assets for the state.
