Within the framework of “Ha Nam Culture and Tourism Week 2025”, the Ha Nam People’s Committee organized the conference “Ha Nam – Connect and Inspire” at the International Vesak Conference Center, Tam Chuc National Tourism Area.

The event attracted more than 200 delegates, including managers, investors, scientists, and representatives of many travel businesses across the country.

HA NAM TOURISM SOARS FROM GEOGRAPHICAL AND CULTURAL ADVANTAGES TO THE RENOWNED LANDMARK OF TAM CHUC

In his opening speech, Mr. Nguyen Anh Chuc, Vice Chairman of the Ha Nam People’s Committee, emphasized: “Ha Nam occupies a strategic location on the trans-Vietnam tourism route, lying close to Hanoi and conveniently connecting with many provinces in the Red River Delta and North Central Coast. The province is prioritizing investment in key sectors, with tourism identified as a spearhead industry with far-reaching impacts.”

Mr. Nguyen Anh Chuc, Vice Chairman of the Ha Nam People’s Committee, delivers a speech at the “Ha Nam – Connect and Inspire” conference.

Currently, Ha Nam boasts over 200 accommodation facilities offering more than 4,000 rooms, including two 5-star hotels and a premium hotel under completion.

Notably, the Tam Chuc tourism area – the largest spiritual cultural complex in Southeast Asia – has been approved by the Prime Minister as a National Tourism Area. Together with 12 recognized tourist attractions, it is contributing to the formation of a diverse ecosystem of products: from Ba Danh Pagoda and Dai Hoang Fish Village to parks, walking streets, a golf course, and rural tourism products associated with the culture of the North.

The data shows that Ha Nam’s tourism industry is experiencing impressive growth. In 2024, the province welcomed 4.7 million visitors, with revenue reaching nearly VND 3,700 billion. In the first five months of 2025 alone, Ha Nam attracted nearly 6 million visitors, generating more than VND 4,500 billion in revenue.

For two consecutive years, 2023 and 2024, Ha Nam was honored by the World Travel Awards with the titles of “World’s Leading Local Cultural Destination”, “Asia’s Emerging Destination”, and “Special Achievement.”

Management agencies, travel businesses, investors, and major tourism development corporations attend the conference.

Affirming the province’s determination to complete important tourism planning, especially the master plan for the development of the Tam Chuc National Tourism Area, Mr. Truong Quoc Huy, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the Ha Nam People’s Committee, shared that Ha Nam is also oriented towards sustainable tourism development through regional linkage with Nam Dinh and Ninh Binh. The province proactively creates mechanisms and policies to attract investment and develop products with unique characteristics.

Mr. Huy mentioned that the province is implementing synchronous solutions such as developing tourism routes connecting Tam Chuc and Hoa Lu, constructing international-standard accommodations, investing heavily in infrastructure and auxiliary services around major tourist attractions, and leveraging digital transformation to stimulate demand. They also invite famous individuals from Vietnam and abroad to experience and promote destinations on social media.

TOWARDS THE DEVELOPMENT OF REGIONALLY LINKED TOURISM SPACES, EXTENDING REACH TO THE REGION AND INTERNATIONAL MARKETS

At the conference, delegates also showed a particular interest in the orientation of developing a regionally linked tourism space among the three provinces of Ha Nam, Nam Dinh, and Ninh Binh.

According to Mr. Bui Van Manh, Director of Ninh Binh Tourism Department, this golden triangle enjoys a strategic geographical location and boasts prominent cultural and natural resources such as Tam Chuc, Giao Thuy beach, and Trang An. In 2024 alone, the three provinces welcomed nearly 15 million visitors, with tourism revenue surpassing VND 13,400 billion.

However, Mr. Manh also pointed out significant challenges, including infrastructure inconsistencies, overlapping and shallow products, a lack of premium services, and a shortage of high-quality tourism human resources. While Ha Nam boasts Tam Chuc, it lacks a commensurate service ecosystem. Nam Dinh lacks premium accommodations, and Ninh Binh faces overload issues and a lack of resort products.

To address these challenges, the representative of Ninh Binh Tourism Department proposed building a regional common tourism brand and developing products along thematic axes such as “The Heritage Road: Huong Son – Tam Chuc – Trang An”, “Spiritual Journey”, and “Green Agricultural Tourism”. He also suggested encouraging investment in an international airport in Ha Nam, developing resorts and agritourism, and researching the nomination of the Van Long – Kim Bang – Tam Chuc – Chua Huong cluster as a “World Natural Heritage” site.

Ms. Phan Linh Chi, Deputy Director of Vietnam National Administration of Tourism, speaks at the “Ha Nam – Connect and Inspire” conference.

From the central agency, Ms. Phan Linh Chi, Deputy Director of Vietnam National Administration of Tourism, proposed four key orientations for Ha Nam and regional tourism development:

First, promote investment in modern infrastructure and high-quality tourism services, in conjunction with nature conservation.

Second, develop a high-quality tourism workforce and collaborate with businesses in digital skills and foreign language training.

Third, strengthen links with major tourism centers such as Hanoi and Ninh Binh to develop themed tours and seamless connections.

At the conference, Ha Nam signed a series of cooperation agreements with provinces and cities such as Phu Tho, Tuyen Quang, Quang Binh, and Bac Giang, along with numerous major travel companies. These cooperation agreements form an essential foundation for building inter-provincial tour chains and developing diverse tourism products, while extending Ha Nam’s brand reach to the region and international markets.
