The Market Management Department of Can Tho city conducted a surprise inspection of a household business, G.H., which sells rice paper in Chau Van Liem ward, O Mon district. The inspection was carried out by Team 2 of the Market Management Team, following a sudden decision by the Chief of the City Market Management Department.

The authorities inspected the business premises and discovered 414 packaged food products with unclear origins and no labels indicating their source. These products included 113 bags of mixed rice paper, 31 bottles of stir-fried fermented shrimp paste, 23 bottles of mixed plum sauce, 25 bottles of egg butter, and over 200 bottles of various seasoned salts (chili pepper, super spicy shrimp, special shrimp, shrimp in plum sauce, and more).

The inspection team proceeded to draw up an administrative violation record, seal, and temporarily confiscate all goods of unknown origin. The case file has been submitted to the Chief of the City Market Management Department for further handling and the imposition of administrative sanctions as per regulations.

In a separate development, as part of an intensive campaign to combat smuggling, commercial fraud, counterfeiting, and intellectual property rights infringement, units under the Can Tho City Market Management Department conducted surprise inspections of two shoe businesses in Chau Van Liem ward (O Mon district) and An Phu ward (Ninh Kieu district), as well as an eyewear business in Phong Dien town (Phong Dien district). These businesses showed signs of trademark counterfeiting, and the relevant authorities are currently handling these cases.

Moving forward, the Can Tho City Market Management Department will enhance its directives to have market management officers on duty 24/7 to gather information and promptly detect any individuals or entities engaging in smuggling, commercial fraud, counterfeiting, or intellectual property rights infringement. Timely inspections and strict handling will be carried out according to the law.
