The Can Tho City Investment and Construction Project Management has announced that the expansion and upgrade of National Highway 91 (from km0 to km7) will commence on August 19.
With a total length of 7 km, the project starts at the intersection of Cach Mang Thang Tam, Hung Vuong, Tran Phu, and Nguyen Trai Streets in Ninh Kieu District and ends at the connection to the km7-km14 section in Binh Thuy District.
This Group A project involves upgrading the road to a first-class highway with a designed speed of 60 km/h. The total investment capital amounts to VND 7,237 billion (from central and local budgets), including a land clearance cost of approximately VND 5,556 billion. The project is scheduled for completion by 2027.
The project requires a total land area of over 27 hectares, of which 7 hectares need to be cleared. Approximately 1,100 households and organizations will be affected, and around 300 resettlement lots will be needed.

To facilitate the commencement of construction, the Can Tho City Investment and Construction Project Management is focusing on land clearance and compensation for affected individuals and organizations.
As of mid-May 2025, authorities have measured and inventoried 891 cases, and approved compensation, support, and resettlement plans for 101 cases.
The relevant units are striving to complete land clearance by June to ensure the project’s timely initiation.
The expansion and upgrade of National Highway 91 (from km0 to km7) in Can Tho City are expected to be completed by 2027. Upon completion, the project will enhance the efficiency of National Highway 91 within the city, alleviating traffic congestion.
Additionally, the road will improve connectivity between the city center and the Tra Noc Industrial Park and Can Tho International Airport.
