According to the latest updates, Bao Tin Minh Chau has a chartered capital of VND 300 billion, of which Mr. Minh Chau holds 96.72% of the shares. The director and legal representative of Bao Tin Minh Chau is Ms. Pham Lan Anh.
On its official website, Bao Tin Minh Chau introduces itself as a business established in 1989, starting from a small gold shop on Tran Nhan Tong Street, Hai Ba Trung District, Hanoi.
After 36 years of development, the company now has three business facilities in Hanoi and nearly 243 selling points nationwide, serving millions of customers yearly.
The brand is considered a vast “empire” within a gold-business “family” in Hanoi and the North. In Hanoi alone, there are several well-known gold brands that start with the word “Bao Tin,” including Bao Tin Minh Chau, Bao Tin Manh Hai, Bao Tin Thanh Van, Bao Tin Hong Van, Bao Tin Hong Quan, and Bao Tin Hoang Long.
These gold brands originated from “Bao Tin Gold,” founded by Ms. Luong Thi Diem (born in 1936). Mr. Vu Minh Chau (born in 1953) is the eldest son of Ms. Diem.
Thus, all the gold brands starting with “Bao Tin” were established by the children of the Vu family, who are also the children of Ms. Luong Thi Diem.
According to the National Business Registration System, in May 1995, Bao Tin Minh Chau Joint Stock Company was officially established based on the upgrade of a gold shop located on Tran Nhan Tong Street, Hai Ba Trung District. Mr. Vu Minh Chau served as the company’s director and legal representative from its establishment until October 2024, when he transferred the position to Ms. Pham Lan Anh.
In 2018, Bao Tin Minh Chau had a chartered capital of VND 100 billion. Mr. Vu Minh Chau held a contribution rate of 90.17%, and the remaining capital was contributed by his eldest son, Mr. Vu Phuong Nam, who is currently the company’s deputy director.
In June 2024, Bao Tin Minh Chau increased its chartered capital from VND 100 billion to VND 300 billion. Mr. Chau contributed an additional VND 200 billion, raising his ownership ratio to 96.72%.
The Gold and Jewelry Tycoon’s Venture into the Health and Wellness Industry
Aside from his prominent gold business, Mr. Vu Minh Chau is also the founder of Duong Duoc Minh Chau, a company specializing in nutritional and herbal products. In 2010, the company was renamed Duong Duoc Bao Sinh, with Mr. Vu Minh Tien as its director.
According to an article on Bao Tin Minh Chau’s website, Mr. Vu Minh Chau founded Duong Duoc Bao Sinh due to the stressful nature of the gold business, which took a toll on his health. After recovering from a severe illness, he embraced the philosophy that “health is more precious than gold,” and dedicated significant time and effort to studying traditional Eastern medicine and its benefits.
At that time, Mr. Vu Minh Chau shared his vision of developing Duong Duoc Bao Sinh into a renowned brand, aiming to match the success of Bao Tin Minh Chau.
However, according to the National Portal on Business Registration, Duong Duoc Bao Sinh has since been dissolved and is no longer in operation.
Mr. Vu Minh Chau also served as the director and legal representative of Bao Minh Media Company, established in 2004. As of May 2018, the company had a chartered capital of VND 1.5 billion, with two shareholders: Bao Tin Minh Chau Joint Stock Company (contributing VND 1.485 billion) and Mr. Vu Phuong Nam (contributing VND 15 million).
In August 2019, Bao Minh Media Company was dissolved due to difficulties in business operations and organizational issues.
Mr. Vu Minh Chau has also gained attention for his viral statements on social media, such as “intelligent men don’t marry successful women.” Additionally, at Bao Tin Minh Chau, employees are required to adhere to strict dress codes and appearance standards. All employees, male and female, are expected to present themselves as teachers, with natural black hair and no tattoos or piercings.
The U.S. Remains a Promising Market for Vietnamese Textile and Footwear Industries.
“In a recent statement, the Trade Counselor of the Vietnamese Embassy in the US quoted President Donald Trump as saying that a booming textile industry is not a necessity for the US, and that textile products such as shirts and socks can be ‘very well made elsewhere.’ This presents a promising and opportunistic outlook for Vietnamese textile and footwear exports to the US market.”
