The Bien Hoa – Vung Tau Expressway, a 53-kilometer-long highway with a total investment of VND 17,800 billion, traverses the provinces of Dong Nai and Ba Ria-Vung Tau. The project is divided into three components, with the first and second components spanning 34 kilometers in Dong Nai and the remaining 19.5-kilometer section falling within Ba Ria-Vung Tau Province as the third component.

Component 1, spanning over 16 kilometers across Bien Hoa City and Long Thanh District, currently has 34 simultaneous construction sites to accelerate progress. The XL18 contract has achieved 14.2% completion, while the XL21 contract has reached approximately 48.5% completion.

In Component 1, contractors are focused on various tasks such as embankment construction, soft ground treatment, pile drilling, and bridge construction. Approximately 2.385 million cubic meters of fill material are required, and nearly 1 million cubic meters have been transported to the construction site thus far.

Approximately one kilometer from the starting point, in Vuon Dua neighborhood, Phuoc Tan Ward, Bien Hoa City, at the intersection with Dinh Quang An Street, the contractor has mobilized dozens of machinery, equipment, and construction vehicles for continuous work.

The ongoing works include embankment construction and the building of overpasses at Ham Nghi and Dinh Quang An Streets.

In the XL21 contract (Km6+200 – Km16+000), which passes through Long Duc Commune, Long Thanh District, the contractor has asphalted several sections. On the main route, the contractor has installed guardrails and median barriers and is continuing to finalize other items.

The contractor has initiated 18 construction sites to expedite progress on items such as K95 embankment construction, drainage pipe installation, guardrails for crossovers, bridges on the main route, overpasses, and underpasses for local traffic. According to the latest progress report, the construction volume of this contract has exceeded 48.5%.

In Component 2, which traverses Long Thanh District, workers and engineers are working tirelessly to expedite construction progress.

Mr. Pham Van Minh, Director of Project Management Unit 85 (Ministry of Construction), shared that Component 2, spanning over 18 kilometers, has reached approximately 51% completion. Several key items are on track, including embankment construction, which has achieved 1.8 million cubic meters out of 2.4 million cubic meters (75%). Approximately 270,000 cubic meters of crushed stone subbase material have been stockpiled, accounting for 47% of the total requirement. The contractor has completed about 6 kilometers of the road (33%), 1.5 kilometers of CTB asphalt (8%), 1 kilometer of R25 asphalt concrete, and 0.4 kilometers of C19 asphalt concrete.

Regarding auxiliary works, all eight underpasses and 23 bridges along the route have been completed as planned, reaching 100% completion. The 2025 disbursement rate has reached 16.3%. In the area bordering Components 2 and 3, the contractor is working on embankment construction. Following this phase, the subsequent steps of spreading crushed stone subbase and asphalt paving will be executed to finalize the road structure as per the design specifications.

Component 3, spanning nearly 20 kilometers through Ba Ria-Vung Tau Province, has been technically opened to traffic and is expected to be officially operational by the National Day holiday on September 2nd this year.
