On June 1st, Buddhist monk Thích Khai Quảng of Thạch Long Pagoda in Bắc Kạn province became an internet sensation with his entertaining live-streaming sales pitches. A recent announcement clip of his has garnered nearly 1 million followers on social media.

In this clip, the monk announces that he will no longer be accepting donations via social media as he has raised enough funds to cast a bell for the pagoda. He also warns about fake social media accounts impersonating the pagoda to scam people. As of June 1st, the monk’s bank account balance stands at over 3 billion VND, including a 500 million VND deposit for the bell, totaling more than 3.5 billion VND in donations.

“The pagoda will no longer accept donations as there are many fake social media accounts with the intention of scamming people. We will temporarily stop asking for donations on social media. As of now, we have over 3 billion VND in the account, and we have already made a deposit of over 500 million VND for the bell, totaling more than 3.5 billion VND” – announced Buddhist monk Thích Khai Quảng.

Additionally, the monk confirmed that he only sells products on one platform and has one account, cautioning followers to be vigilant when making purchases or transferring money. “If you transfer money to the wrong account, consider it bad luck as the scammers are very sophisticated”

Looking ahead, once the bell is cast, Monk Quảng plans to build a bell tower or another meaningful structure at the pagoda when funds allow. He assures that he will provide transparent financial statements and involve the contractors in his videos so that followers can rest assured of the funds’ usage.

This information has caught the attention of netizens, with the clip garnering 1.6 million views and over 114k likes just 11 hours after being posted.

It is known that Buddhist monk Thích Khai Quảng, whose full name is Lưu Văn Quỳnh (born in 1988, Quang Ninh province), currently manages Thạch Long Pagoda in Cao Kỳ commune, Bắc Kạn province. Monk Quảng has been residing at and managing the pagoda for about eight years. In some of his videos, he shared that besides his monastic practices and selling products online, he also works as a construction laborer, earning 150,000 VND per afternoon.

Sometimes, the number of orders on Monk Quảng’s channel is so high that he has to ask customers to stop placing orders temporarily.

Recently, Monk Quảng has been actively live-streaming his sales pitches on the TikTok platform, attracting thousands of viewers with his humorous interactions with customers. When these videos went viral, many people started placing orders and leaving encouraging comments, and even donating money for the renovation and maintenance of Thạch Long Pagoda.

As of June 1st, Monk Quảng’s TikTok account, @thichkhaiquang, has reached 1 million followers with 4.6 million likes across the channel. These numbers continue to grow.

On May 31st, Monk Quảng also appeared in VTV24’s weekly news roundup, where BTV Sơn Lâm creatively edited a mock conversation between himself and the monk, using clips and livestreams from Monk Quảng’s previous videos.
