Earlier, on May 30th, a joint task force comprising the Economic Police, the Anti-Smuggling Team of Long Xuyen City’s People’s Committee, the Department of Industry and Trade, the Provincial Market Management Bureau, and the My Hoa Ward Police conducted an administrative inspection of a house in Tay Khanh 5 neighborhood, My Hoa ward, Long Xuyen city.

The authorities discovered 472 plastic cans (4-liter capacity) containing a black liquid with a distinctive fish sauce odor, four drums containing a liquid with a detergent scent (with capacities ranging from 500 to 1,000 liters), numerous plastic cans, bottles, lids, and foreign-labeled packaging, as well as production tools and raw materials.

During the interrogation, Mr. Nguyen Duc Minh Tam (born in 1986, residing in Chau Doc city, An Giang province) confessed to creating these products using chemicals and fragrances. The 472 plastic cans containing the black liquid were intended to be sold as counterfeit fish sauce, while the drums of liquid were packaged and labeled as Hygiene detergent (of Thai origin) for market distribution.

Mr. Tam was unable to present any documents related to business registration, product quality assurance, or trademark usage permission.

Previously, after a week of intensive efforts to combat smuggling, commercial fraud, and counterfeit goods in the province, the Provincial Market Management Bureau collaborated with relevant agencies to conduct eight inspections and supervise the handling of similar cases. They seized 392 cans of smuggled Fineline-branded laundry detergent, whose ownership could not be established, along with various counterfeit and trademark-infringing goods.
