Dai Ninh Project site in Duc Trong District
Late at night on May 26th, in subsection 364 of the Dai Ninh Project in Ta Hine Commune, the forest protection management force discovered machinery being used to steal soil from an area of 457 square meters. When confronted, the thief fled the scene.
However, authorities suspect that the perpetrator was Mr. D. (a resident of Ta Hine Commune), who had rented an excavator from a nearby resident. Approximately 90 cubic meters of soil was dug up and taken away before the theft was discovered.
The People’s Committee of Duc Trong District has instructed the People’s Committee of Ta Hine Commune and relevant units to urgently inspect and handle the above-mentioned soil excavation activities.
The Dai Ninh Project of Saigon Dai Ninh Company has a total investment capital of VND 25,243 billion, covering an area of 3,959 hectares across 4 communes of Duc Trong District: Ninh Gia, Ninh Loan, Phu Hoi, and Ta Hine.
Over the past 14 years, the project has resulted in the loss of 257.5 hectares of forest and the encroachment of 111 hectares of forest land. The investor had to compensate for the loss of 257 hectares of forest with a sum of VND 18.8 billion. However, the 111-hectare encroached forest land has not been recovered to this day.
