Da Nang International Airport (DAD), one of the three largest airports in Vietnam, serves as a vital gateway for trade and tourism in Central Vietnam. With 51 international routes, it is a preferred destination for millions of travelers from South Korea, China, Thailand, India, the US, and beyond.

Conveniently located in the city center, just a short drive from My Khe Beach and the ancient town of Hoi An, Da Nang International Airport has become a powerful magnet for international tourism, MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions), and the region’s leisure industry.

Da Nang International Airport is not just a bustling destination; it also marks a pivotal moment in Vietnam’s aviation history as the first airport to have an internationally-invested terminal through socialization. Terminal 2, constructed from 2015 to 2017 by AHT, exemplifies innovative thinking in strategic infrastructure development.

Terminal 2 at Da Nang International Airport boasts a total investment of VND 3,500 billion. Spanning an area of 52,000 square meters, its design draws inspiration from the graceful wings of a seagull, reflecting the youthful vibrancy of a developing coastal city.

Terminal 2 is designed to international standards, featuring separate areas for departing and arriving passengers, optimizing operational processes and enhancing the overall passenger experience. AHT collaborates with various domestic and international airlines, serving millions of passengers annually.

In 2024, AHT partnered with FPT Software to implement a smart airport model at Terminal 2, becoming the first airport terminal in Vietnam to achieve a fully automated process from check-in to boarding.

With significant strides in service quality improvement, Terminal 2 of Da Nang International Airport has earned the prestigious 5-star rating from Skytrax in 2024 and 2025, solidifying its leading position in the region and Vietnam. Skytrax also recognized Da Nang Airport as the only Vietnamese representative in the top 10 best airports in Asia for 2025, ranking 9th.

Da Nang International Airport continually enhances its services and facilities across both terminals to ensure a comfortable and convenient experience befitting its accolades. Notable features include a smart evaluation and information system with multilingual support, video call kiosks, and inquiry screens located throughout the terminal, enabling passengers to effortlessly access flight and airport service information.

Additionally, AI cameras have been installed in the check-in areas to measure passenger density in real time, providing online data to the operations department for efficient crowd management and streamlined check-in processes.

The airport’s design also incorporates nature, offering passengers a pleasant experience. From the terminal to the car pickup area, passengers are shaded by lush greenery. Inside the terminal, meticulously designed landscapes create a relaxing atmosphere, enhancing the overall travel experience.

To meet the growing demands of passengers, AHT is proposing to the Da Nang People’s Committee and relevant authorities a project to expand Terminal 2, with construction expected to commence on September 2nd, coinciding with the 80th anniversary of National Day. A key feature of this expansion project is the balance between traditional check-in counters and automated systems, providing passengers with options and optimizing check-in times.
