Regarding the allegations against C.P. Vietnam Livestock Joint Stock Company for allegedly selling sick pig meat, the company’s representative officially responded on the afternoon of June 2nd. They confirmed that the images of pigs showing abnormal signs were taken at the post-slaughter animal control area of a hired subcontractor’s facility and had been observed since 2022. C.P. Vietnam asserted that the batch of pigs showing signs of illness had been completely culled and not released to the market for consumption.

On the same day, the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Soc Trang province announced the test results of pork samples collected from a store on Le Hong Phong Street, Soc Trang city. The results showed that the meat samples were free from viruses causing African Swine Fever, Classical Swine Fever, and Porcine Reproductive and Respiratory Syndrome (PRRS) of North American origin.

By the morning of June 3rd, the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Soc Trang province continued inspections at four pork business establishments, including My Xuyen town (My Xuyen district), two locations on Le Hong Phong Street and 30/4 Street (Soc Trang city), and one location in Nga Nam town.

The inspection results showed that all four establishments had multiple violations: three places used expired certificates of food safety conditions, failed to present the original business registration, and none of the four could provide confirmation of food safety training.

In response to the concerning information about C.P. Vietnam’s pork products, a food distributor in Nam Dinh, Tara Mart, announced a temporary suspension of trading products from this brand.

“At the moment, there is negative information on social media regarding the products of C.P. Vietnam Livestock Joint Stock Company. Therefore, Tara Mart decides to temporarily suspend providing products from this brand to customers until there is an official announcement from the competent state authorities to decide whether to continue doing business or not,” the announcement from Tara Mart stated.

It is known that Tara Mart is a clean food store with two branches in My Xa and Xuan Truong (Nam Dinh), specializing in distributing clean food products.

The case related to C.P. Vietnam is still being monitored and clarified by the authorities.
