“Vietbank Secures Approval for Capital Increase: A Step Towards Growth and Stability”

On June 3, 2025, the State Bank of Vietnam (SBV) approved Vietbank’s proposal to increase its charter capital by up to VND 3,780 billion, as per the plan approved by the 2025 Annual General Meeting of Shareholders.

In the first phase, Vietbank plans to issue over 107 million new shares (a 15% increase) to existing shareholders at a par value of VND 10,000 per share. This issuance will be funded by retained earnings and the supplementary capital reserve up to the end of 2024. The new shares will not be subject to transfer restrictions, and the issuance is expected to take place in the second and third quarters of 2025.

The total issuance value is VND 1,071 billion, and Vietbank’s charter capital will increase to VND 8,210 billion after this first phase.

In the second phase, Vietbank intends to issue nearly 271 million new shares (a 33% increase compared to the post-phase 1 capital) to existing shareholders, including new capital contributors, at an issue price of VND 10,000 per share. The total value of shares issued in this phase is over VND 2,709 billion, and these shares will also be free from transfer restrictions. The issuance is expected to take place in the third and fourth quarters of 2025.

If both phases are successful, Vietbank’s charter capital is expected to increase from VND 7,139 billion to nearly VND 10,920 billion.

The additional charter capital of VND 3,780 billion is intended for investment in fixed assets, information technology systems, supplementary operating capital, and expanding Vietbank’s network. It will also ensure compliance with safety ratios and contribute to the bank’s profitability.

On the UPCoM exchange, Vietbank’s shares (VBB) are currently trading at around VND 11,100 per share (as of June 4, 2025 morning session), reflecting a nearly 22% increase since the beginning of the year, despite low liquidity of around 40,000 shares traded daily.
