Vietnam’s tallest buildings as of now are the Landmark 81 in Ho Chi Minh City, standing at 461.2 meters, the Keangnam Hanoi Landmark Tower in Hanoi at 336 meters, and the Lotte Center Hanoi, also in Hanoi, at 272 meters. However, this list is subject to change with the approval and completion of new high-rise building projects, introducing new architectural landmarks to the country.
Here is a detailed look at the top five approved, under-construction, or already constructed skyscrapers in Vietnam.

1. Phuong Trach Tower

Phuong Trach Tower, designed to be Vietnam’s tallest building, stands at over 530 meters with 108 floors. It is part of the “Smart City” project in Dong Anh, Hanoi. The project is a joint venture between BRG Group and Japan’s Sumitomo, with a total investment of up to $4.2 billion. Inspired by the traditional Vietnamese ao dai dress, the tower will not only be an architectural icon but also integrate modern amenities such as luxury apartments, hotels, and an international casino.

The project received investment approval in 2018 but has not started construction yet. Once completed, Phuong Trach Tower promises to be Hanoi’s new financial center, shaping the city’s modern urban landscape.
2. Can Gio 108-story Tower (Vinhomes Green Paradise)

The 108-story tower in Can Gio is the centerpiece of the Vinhomes Green Paradise project, a massive land reclamation project spanning 2,870 hectares in Can Gio, Ho Chi Minh City. Developed by Can Gio Tourism Urban Joint Stock Company (a subsidiary of Vingroup), the project officially broke ground on April 19, 2025. The tower is expected to surpass the height of Landmark 81, becoming the new symbol of Ho Chi Minh City.

With an integrated design featuring a commercial center, a five-star hotel, and premium offices, the tower will be a marvel of architecture and a key contributor to transforming Can Gio into a coastal economic and tourism hub. However, the exact height of the tower has not been disclosed yet.
3. Landmark 81

Landmark 81 is currently Vietnam’s tallest building, rising to 461.2 meters with 81 stories in Binh Thanh District, Ho Chi Minh City. Completed in 2018 by Vinhomes, the tower symbolizes modern urban development, housing the Vincom commercial center, the five-star Vinpearl Hotel, and luxury apartments.

With its elegant design and prime location by the Saigon River, Landmark 81 attracts both residents and tourists to its SkyView observation deck. It stands as a testament to Vietnam’s construction capabilities and strategic vision in creating world-class landmarks.
4. VietinBank Tower

The VietinBank Tower, planned to be 364 meters tall with 68 stories, is a ambitious project by the Vietnam Joint Stock Commercial Bank for Industry and Trade in the Ciputra urban area, Hanoi (Wikipedia). Construction began in 2010, and the tower was designed to serve as VietinBank’s headquarters, integrating offices, a hotel, and a commercial center.

However, after 15 years, the project remains unfinished, with only the foundation and basic structure of the 68-story tower completed, while the 48-story tower is partially built. In 2018, VietinBank proposed to sell the project or find partners, attracting 29 interested investors in 2021. But the project has not progressed since then. The site is currently fenced off, with overgrown grass.
5. Empire 88 Tower

The Empire 88 Tower, standing at 333 meters with 88 stories, is located in the Empire City urban area in Thu Duc City, Ho Chi Minh City. The project is a joint venture between Tien Phuoc, Tran Thai, Keppel Land, and Gaw Capital Partners, featuring a unique design inspired by rice terraces and nature.

Despite being approved in 2015, the project has not started construction due to various obstacles. Recently, in 2025, these issues have been gradually resolved, raising hopes for its revival. Upon completion, the Empire 88 Tower will be one of Vietnam’s tallest buildings, contributing to the transformation of Thu Duc’s eastern area into a new financial center.
6. V-shaped Heritage Road A Tower

The V-shaped Heritage Road A Tower is the highlight of the Van Don Heritage Road project in Quang Ninh, featuring 88 stories. The project is developed by Van Don Heritage Road Joint Stock Company. Designed with an image inspired by the Vietnamese ao dai dress, the tower is expected to become a tourist symbol of Van Don, integrating amenities such as hotels, resorts, and entertainment facilities. Approved for planning in 2018, the tower has not yet been constructed.
