The popular convenience store chain, 7-Eleven, has recently announced its official launch in Hanoi, Vietnam. Prior to this, in early 2025, the brand garnered attention when it started recruiting personnel in the capital city.

According to the announcement, 7-Eleven will be opening its first store in Hanoi on June 6, 2025, located at 52 Lo Su, Hang Bac ward, Hoan Kiem district.

“7-Eleven is excited to meet you and together, we will embark on a new and thrilling journey in the capital city!” the brand shared on its official page.

Industry experts in the F&B field believe that 7-Eleven’s expansion into Hanoi demonstrates their long-term commitment and strategy in the highly competitive convenience store market.

Prior to 7-Eleven’s entry into Hanoi, GS25, a South Korean brand that primarily focused on Ho Chi Minh City and the southern provinces, also made its move north. On March 14, 2025, GS25 simultaneously opened six stores in Hanoi, including: GS25 Dao Duy Anh, GS25 Taisei (Khuat Duy Tien), GS25 The West (Cau Giay), GS25 Doi Can, GS25 Ha Trung, and GS25 Hang Dau.

The presence of both 7-Eleven and GS25 in Hanoi has broken the near-monopoly of Circle K in the 24/7 convenience store segment in the city.

According to the “2025 Report on Modern Retail Store Trends in Vietnam” published by Q&Me, 7-Eleven is the fastest-growing chain, increasing from 99 to 130 stores within a year.

Meanwhile, despite not expanding to new locations in 2025, Circle K still leads in terms of coverage with 499 stores nationwide. However, the lack of growth indicates that their key markets of Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi may be reaching saturation.

Q&Me’s assessment also suggests that with the entry of GS25 and soon 7-Eleven into Hanoi, the competition in the convenience store segment in the capital will intensify, forcing existing brands to continuously innovate to retain their customers.
