Confusion has been rampant among drivers traveling on the Ham Nghi – Vung Ang expressway near the Ky Trung intersection in Ky Trung, Ha Tinh, over the past month due to a peculiar exit sign. The issue has perplexed not only out-of-town drivers but also local residents.

The oddly-named exit sign in Ha Tinh.

According to observations, an exit sign on the main expressway displays two names: “Cẩm Quan Exit 20km” and “Cẩm Dân Exit 40km.” However, locals clarified that while the Cẩm Quan exit is located at the Km527+580 intersection connecting National Highway 1 in Cẩm Quan, Cẩm Xuyên district, the latter name, Cẩm Dân, is unfamiliar and non-existent in Ha Tinh province.

“Even locals are unsure about the location of Cẩm Dân, and we don’t know if there’s an exit for it on the expressway,” said Mr. Cu, a 37-year-old resident of Ha Tinh. He emphasized the need to rectify the misleading sign to prevent further confusion for drivers.

The recently opened Ha Tinh expressway has faced several challenges, but adjustments have been made to ensure its smooth operation.

In a conversation with Tien Phong, representatives from the Thang Long Project Management Board (under the Ministry of Construction and the investor of the Ham Nghi – Vung Ang project) acknowledged the error in the exit sign. They have instructed the installation team to review and correct the information to avoid misunderstandings and ensure a seamless experience for drivers.

Previously, the nearly 90-kilometer-long Bãi Vọt – Hàm Nghi and Hàm Nghi – Vũng Áng expressways faced similar issues with reverse lane markings and exit signs leading to under-construction roads. Thanks to timely feedback, the investor and management team have rectified these problems to ensure safe travel.
