When it comes to street food, Hanoi, one of the largest cities in Vietnam, offers a plethora of affordable and delectable treats. The city’s culinary scene, featuring fried fermented pork sausage, chicken feet, fried cakes, and sweet soups, has won over countless foreign tourists with just one bite.

Kitti, a visitor from Hungary, fell in love with Hanoi’s cuisine during her trip with her Vietnamese best friend, Hai Anh. In August 2024, Hai Anh shared a vlog on her YouTube channel, yo bae, documenting their food adventures in the capital city. This was Kitti’s second visit to Hanoi.

Hai Anh captioned the vlog: “In today’s video, on my first day back in Hanoi, I’ll be taking my Hungarian bestie, Kitti, to try some delicious foods that she didn’t get to taste during her previous visit (and some that she loved so much that she wanted to have again). I took her to places where she exclaimed, ‘You can never find such delicious food in Europe!’ So, watch to find out what we ate!”

The duo started their culinary journey with traditional Vietnamese baguettes. Upon entering the bakery, Kitti exclaimed, “I miss places like this so much. You won’t find such bakeries in Europe.”

In the subtitles, Hai Anh revealed that Kitti had been craving baguettes since her arrival in Vietnam. “This is a small bakery in Kim Lien, a bit crowded but worth the visit,” she added.

As they bit into the baguettes, Kitti remarked, “This is good!” She even took photos with the baguettes to send to her friends back in Hungary, giving the dish a perfect score of 10/10.

After satisfying their carb cravings, Hai Anh took Kitti to try another Vietnamese delicacy—steamed rice rolls. This was Kitti’s first time trying this dish, and she was impressed. “It’s delicious, especially with the dipping sauce,” she commented.

When asked to rate the dish, Kitti replied, “9 out of 10. It gets better with every bite.”

Kitti enjoyed the steamed rice rolls.

She rated the dish a 9/10.

While the baguettes and steamed rice rolls were a hit, the two friends weren’t done yet. Hai Anh revealed that they would be heading for dessert next.

A Vietnamese Dessert that Charmed the Foreigner

After the savory dishes, the young duo arrived at a shop selling yogurt with rice flakes. They ordered two cups of yogurt topped with colorful rice flakes, served with condensed milk and coconut milk. Kitti took a bite and remarked, “This is good!” She especially enjoyed the tapioca pearls in the yogurt.

“You won’t find this in Europe,” Kitti commented. “I wish I could bring this back to Hungary because this is the best, and you can’t just buy it at a supermarket. It’s a shame that people in Hungary haven’t tried this yet.”

Ultimately, Kitti gave the dessert a perfect score of 10, emphasizing her love for the coconut-coated tapioca pearls.

Kitti absolutely loved this dessert.

Kitti’s enthusiastic response to Vietnamese cuisine delighted netizens. One comment read: “I’ve watched many videos of foreigners visiting Vietnam, but I still like Kitti the most. I love how she enjoys and appreciates the food… Really looking forward to her future videos as she explores other provinces, and I’ll definitely follow her journey.”

Another viewer wrote: “After watching this, I feel so grateful. Usually, when I wake up, I have a lot of options for breakfast—steamed rice rolls, sticky rice, pho, beef noodles, broken rice… They are indeed delicious, but I was surprised to see the reaction of foreign tourists, who seemed to value and cherish these dishes even more than a native Vietnamese like me. It made me crave these foods even more, and they taste 1000 times better now.”

A third commenter observed: “Kitti has an open mind and is willing to try new things, and she adapts well to Vietnamese culture, which warms the hearts of many Vietnamese people, including mine. It’s heartwarming to see how much she enjoys the food. I’ll be making a baguette for breakfast tomorrow. Vietnam always welcomes Kitti.”

In fact, yogurt offers numerous health benefits due to its rich nutritional content. Firstly, it is an excellent source of protein, which helps build and repair muscles, making it ideal for active individuals. Additionally, yogurt contains high levels of calcium and vitamin D, which promote bone health and prevent osteoporosis.

One of the most notable benefits of yogurt is its probiotics content—beneficial bacteria that balance the gut microbiome, improve digestion, and boost the immune system.

Beyond its internal health benefits, yogurt is also used in skincare for its moisturizing and skin-brightening properties.

With its delightful flavor and versatility, yogurt makes a perfect daily snack for people of all ages, especially when paired with fruits or cereals.
