On June 5th, the Investigation Police Agency of Ba Ria-Vung Tau Province announced that they are consolidating the case file for prosecution against Nguyen Van Phuoc (45 years old, residing in Phu My City, Phu My Town) for “Fraudulent Appropriation of Property.”

According to initial information, in 2024, Dong Thap University and Vung Tau Polytechnic College collaborated to enroll and manage training programs for working students in Ba Ria-Vung Tau Province.

Despite having no involvement in the training collaboration between the two institutions, Nguyen Van Phuoc, taking advantage of his position as Deputy Director of P.T Business Training Services Co., Ltd. in Phu My City, disseminated false information regarding enrollment procedures. He claimed that he could facilitate the admission process, provide student ID codes, and arrange for successful candidates to pursue a linked training program at Dong Thap University.

Falling for his deception, 11 applicants transferred tuition fees totaling over 108 million VND to Phuoc’s personal account. Phuoc then used this money for his personal expenses.

However, when the applicants realized that they were not recognized as students of Dong Thap University and could not attend classes as promised, they demanded that Phuoc fulfill his initial commitment or refund their money. As Phuoc failed to take any action, they reported him to the police.

During the investigation, Nguyen Van Phuoc confessed to his crimes. The Investigation Police Agency of Ba Ria-Vung Tau Province has initiated legal proceedings and detained the accused, Nguyen Van Phuoc, to serve the investigation process in accordance with legal regulations.
