A portion of the road along the Thang Long Boulevard has been fenced off to facilitate the construction of the interchange between the Ring Road 3.5 and the boulevard itself.

The restricted areas have been properly barricaded to ensure the safety of the ongoing construction work.

The fenced-off section of the road stretches from the Thang Long Capital urban area to the end of Hoang Tung Street in An Khanh, Hoai Duc.

Over the first three days of the traffic diversion to facilitate construction, our correspondents observed frequent traffic jams on the diversion routes due to the high volume of redirected vehicles.

Even though drivers are no longer surprised by the changed routes, traffic jams persist during peak hours, causing long delays along Hoang Tung Street.

Many vehicles, disregarding safety, drive onto the pavement to avoid the congestion.

On the first day of the road closure, all alternative routes into Hanoi were jammed. It took me an hour to get to work
, said Viet Minh from Van Lung, Hoai Duc, who commutes daily along the Thang Long Boulevard. Although it’s no longer difficult to find alternative routes, the small and large vehicles jostling along the inner-city routes still make traveling through the area very challenging
, he added.

Vehicles queue up along the Thang Long Boulevard, all the way to the Thien Phuc intersection.

The 5.5-kilometer Ring Road 3.5 project, stretching from the Thang Long Boulevard to National Highway 32, has a total investment of over VND 1,795 billion. The People’s Committee of Hoai Duc District, Hanoi, is the project investor. As of May 2025, the project has achieved an estimated 90% of the contracted volume, and the Ring Road 3.5 is expected to be completed by the end of the year.

On April 19, the Hanoi People’s Committee officially started the construction of the underpass at the intersection of Ring Road 3.5 and Thang Long Boulevard. The interchange project between Ring Road 3.5 and Thang Long Boulevard is expected to be completed within two years.

The Contrasting Scenes of New and Old Apartment Buildings in Hanoi
Amidst the towering modern skyscrapers of Hanoi, there lies a contrasting landscape of aging apartment buildings that stand as silent witnesses to the passage of time. On one side are luxurious, fully-equipped condominiums, while on the other, lie damp stairwells and a maze of illegally constructed “cage homes,” where multiple generations of families reside within the confines of a single unit, creating a unique and vibrant community.
