Bolt, currently operating in approximately 55 countries with 200 million customers, has expressed its eagerness to obtain an operating license in Vietnam. The company already has a presence in Thailand since 2021, employing over 50,000 drivers, and offers a range of services, including car-hailing, two-wheelers, scooters, and food and goods delivery.
The Prime Minister commended Bolt’s business results and technology development orientation, especially in promoting digitalization and the sharing economy in the fields of transportation and logistics. He emphasized the significant potential of these sectors in Vietnam, given the rapid growth of the digital economy, a population of over 100 million, and the booming e-commerce industry.
The Vietnamese government aims for an 8% GDP growth rate in 2025 and double-digit growth in the 2026-2030 period. The Prime Minister affirmed that this presents a valuable opportunity for businesses like Bolt to expand their operations, engage in healthy competition, and bring tangible benefits to the people.
Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh emphasized Vietnam’s support for green transportation and services and assured the company of creating favorable conditions for international enterprises, including Bolt, to participate in the market within the framework of the law. Bolt is encouraged to start in major cities and gradually expand to remote areas, considering investing in new business models.
The Prime Minister asserted, “There is no reason for Bolt not to succeed in Vietnam” if they provide convenient services with competitive pricing that benefits the people. He instructed relevant agencies to coordinate with Ho Chi Minh City to expedite the licensing process, ensuring transparency and compliance with regulations.
The Government of Vietnam commits to creating a conducive, safe, and efficient investment environment for Estonian businesses, including Bolt, with a harmonious interest and shared risk approach.
