During his official visit to Estonia, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh met with Mr. Carlo Lustrissimi, CEO and co-founder of 5.0 Robotics.

5.0 Robotics is a young and innovative Estonian company that provides compact, affordable, and user-friendly industrial robot solutions suitable for businesses of all sizes. Their technology has been adopted in several countries, including the UK, Ireland, and Australia.

Recognizing Vietnam’s potential for a leapfrog development in robotics, similar to Estonia’s “Tiger Leap” program for digital transformation, Mr. Lustrissimi proposed an investment project in Vietnam focusing on smart manufacturing, industrial automation, and digital skills enhancement.

The project entails deploying 100 advanced CNC machines to 100 Vietnamese SMEs and providing skill enhancement training for 100 local robot technicians.

Prime Minister Chinh welcomed the activities of 5.0 Robotics, a dynamic tech startup specializing in manufacturing and providing modern yet compact, cost-effective, and user-friendly industrial robot solutions. This aligns perfectly with the transformation needs of numerous SMEs.

With over 900,000 SMEs and 5 million business households, Vietnam is accelerating industrialization in tandem with digital transformation, innovation, and advanced technology adoption in production. The government encourages domestic and foreign investments in smart technology, automation, and robotics to reduce costs and improve labor productivity, product quality, and economic competitiveness.

The Prime Minister welcomed 5.0 Robotics’ proposal and suggested they expedite breakthrough activities in Vietnam. He advised the company to promptly engage with the Ministry of Science and Technology and Vietnamese enterprises to foster collaboration and technology transfer, contributing to increased automation in various sectors, including Vietnam’s import-export sector, which currently scales over $800 billion annually.

With its advanced technology and extensive experience, the Prime Minister expressed his desire for 5.0 Robotics to foster innovation and ecosystem development in Vietnam, particularly in AI and smart factories. He also emphasized the importance of connecting and supporting startups to access 5.0 Robotics’ technology and high-quality human resource training.

The Prime Minister assured that the Ministry of Science and Technology would support 5.0 Robotics in accordance with the spirit of the agreement between the two governments to enhance cooperation in science, technology, innovation, and digital transformation.

The Vietnamese government is committed to creating favorable conditions for the company to access information and connect with suitable partners to implement practical and effective cooperation initiatives, in alignment with Vietnamese law and the spirit of amicable relations, with a focus on “harmonious interests and shared risks.”

During Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh’s official visit to the Republic of Estonia, Minister of Science and Technology Nguyen Manh Hung signed a Memorandum of Understanding on digital transformation and the digital economy with the Estonian Minister of Foreign Affairs, witnessed by Prime Minister Chinh and Estonian Prime Minister Kristen Michal.

The event marks an important step forward, opening a new chapter in bilateral cooperation between the two countries in the digital age.

The two ministers agreed to strengthen cooperation between research institutions and universities in both countries. They will facilitate connections between research organizations, enabling the exchange of needs and the implementation of joint research projects in strategic technology areas. These initiatives aim to leverage the strengths of both Vietnam and Estonia to develop advanced technological solutions for the digital age.

Additionally, the ministries will promote collaboration in research, student training and exchange, particularly between leading ICT universities in the two countries. The goal is to enhance the quality of high-tech human resources to meet the needs of both nations’ digital economic development.
