The Ultimate Electric Motorcycle Showdown: Yadea’s New Trio Takes on VinFast

The electric motorcycle market in Vietnam is witnessing an intense competition between local and foreign brands. Among them, VinFast – a prominent representative of Vietnam – is continuously expanding its product range, constantly launching new models with competitive prices, suitable technology, and superior after-sales policies.

On the other hand, Yadea – a Chinese electric vehicle brand – is also not standing still. With special editions in collaboration with celebrities such as Soobin, Yadea is striving to increase its appeal to young people and students, the target consumers of the mass-market segment.

The brand has just launched three new electric motorcycle models, targeting various groups of consumers. How do Yadea Velax, Oris, and Vekoo compete with VinFast’s offerings in the same segment?

Yadea Velax vs. VinFast Vento

Velax is introduced in Vietnam with three versions, priced from 29.9 million VND. With this price, Velax is positioned to compete with VinFast Vento in the Vietnamese market.

In terms of price, the VinFast Vento NEO is listed at 32 million VND, while the Yadea Velax H costs 29.9 million VND, both considered competitive prices in the mass-market scooter segment. However, when considering the range, a factor that users care most about when choosing to buy an electric vehicle, Vento has an overwhelming advantage with a range of up to 194 km, while the Yadea Velax has a range of 80-129 km.

Another plus for VinFast users is that Vento is free to charge at V-Green stations until May 31, 2026, optimizing costs compared to Yadea models, which have monthly charging costs from 49,000 to 59,000 VND.

In terms of performance, both the Vento NEO and the Velax models are equipped with a 3,200W motor (the Velax U version reaches 4,900W). The Vento NEO also has a larger trunk (27L compared to 10-13L in the three Yadea versions), providing more comfort and space. The VinFast model also stands out with a 5-year unlimited-km warranty for both the vehicle and the battery – compared to Yadea’s 3-year warranty.

Yadea Oris vs. VinFast Evo Lite Neo

Oris targets the scooter segment for students, starting at a price of 22.9 million VND. With this price, the Yadea Oris competes with the Evo Lite NEO – VinFast’s low-cost electric vehicle launched in April.

In terms of price, the Evo Lite NEO has a clear advantage with an announced price of only 14.4 million VND, which is 8.5 million VND lower than the Yadea Oris. Both models have eye-catching designs and fashionable styles, meeting the basic needs of customers for an electric vehicle.

In terms of design and convenience, the Evo Lite NEO has a larger trunk (17L compared to 15L of the Oris). Both models use front disc brakes and rear drum brakes, suitable for urban commuting, along with a maximum speed of 49 km/h – the ideal speed for students.

The range of the Oris on a single charge reaches 90 km, slightly higher than the 78 km of its competitor. However, the strength of the Evo Lite lies in its 3-year battery warranty – a suitable time frame for students, while the Oris offers a shorter warranty of 2 years/20,000 km. Similar to other VinFast models, Evo Lite owners can also charge at public charging stations and are exempt from charging fees at V-Green stations, helping to optimize monthly usage costs.

Yadea Vekoo vs. VinFast Motio

In March, Yadea also introduced the Vekoo model to Vietnamese consumers, priced at 14.49 million VND, targeting the electric motorcycle segment for students and competing with the ‘giant’ VinFast Motio.

Launched in early 2025, Motio immediately impressed users with its low price of only 12 million VND. In terms of performance, Motio excels with a 1,500W motor, a maximum speed of 49 km/h, and a range of up to 82 km on a single charge. Meanwhile, the Yadea Vekoo has a 1,000W motor, a maximum speed of 38 km/h, and a range of about 65 km on a single charge. These are important specifications if users frequently travel long distances within the city.

Yadea uses front and rear drum brakes, while Motio has front disc brakes and rear drum brakes – considered safer. Motio also has a large 22L trunk, easily accommodating items (backpacks, handbags, laptops, phones) without worrying about rain.

Motio has a 3-year vehicle warranty, compared to 2 years/20,000 km for the Yadea model. The vehicle can be charged at public charging stations and is free to charge at V-Green stations. A plus for the Vekoo is the inclusion of a smart key and smart features (Connect to phone-locate-diagnose faults), supporting remote vehicle tracking.

With the increasing presence of domestic and foreign products, the picture of the Vietnamese electric motorcycle market today is not just a competition in products or prices. Experts believe that the difference will lie in long-term strategies – from brand building, after-sales service, to investment in infrastructure and business models. With the current development momentum, it is expected that in a few years, electric motorcycles will gradually become a popular choice to replace traditional gasoline vehicles.
