On June 9, the new wards and communes of Binh Duong officially started their trial operation, with the province’s leaders conducting surveys and inspections to identify any challenges and difficulties.

Mr. Vo Van Minh, Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee, requested that the officials and employees of Tan Dong Hiep Ward (Di An City) strive to work twice or thrice as hard, efficiently managing both ongoing projects in the old wards and the new ward’s operational trial.

Mr. Vo Van Minh and the leaders of Di An City survey the new Tan Dong Hiep Ward.

Mr. Minh acknowledged the unprecedented nature of this transition, with many ongoing projects in the old wards. Therefore, the new ward also had to test its machinery to be fully operational by July 1.

Regarding the strategic projects in Di An City associated with the Suoi Tien – New City Metro Line 1, Mr. Minh shared that they are expected to be submitted to the government this week. Thus, after the merger of Binh Duong into Ho Chi Minh City, these projects must continue with a sense of urgency to meet the deadlines.

The Suoi Tien – New City Metro Line is one of the key transportation projects in Binh Duong Province, passing through four localities: Thu Dau Mot, Tan Uyen, Thuan An, and Di An. It comprises a total of 19 stations and one depot.

The new headquarters of Tan Dong Hiep Ward, previously Tan Binh Ward, features modern and spacious facilities.

The metro line is designed with a double-track standard gauge of 1,435 mm, allowing for a maximum speed of 120 km/h. The projected investment for this project exceeds VND 64,000 billion.

If the project proceeds as planned, construction will commence in 2027, with completion expected in 2031. It will be the first metro line in Binh Duong Province, catering to the growing travel demands between Binh Duong and Ho Chi Minh City.

At the working session, Ms. Truong Thi Bich Hanh, a member of the Provincial Standing Committee and Secretary of the Di An Party Committee, shared that the city had developed plans for operating the new ward and detailed guidelines for its management. Di An City has also made arrangements for human resources and infrastructure.

Ms. Truong Thi Bich Hanh speaks at the meeting with the Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee.

Ms. Hanh explained that Di An City would test the operations of the new ward by assigning dual tasks to the officials involved. They would need to manage their responsibilities in their previous units while also ensuring the smooth running of the new ward. She added, “Currently, the legal framework is not yet clear, so we will do what we can and sort out what we cannot, categorizing tasks accordingly.”

The Secretary of the Di An Party Committee emphasized that during the three-week trial period, the city would ensure that public services for citizens and businesses remain uninterrupted, efficient, and effective. Additionally, a practical assessment of the ward’s operations will be conducted to facilitate timely adjustments and improvements to the working regulations and coordination procedures before the official launch.

The newly established Tan Dong Hiep Ward encompasses the entire natural area and population of the former Tan Binh Ward and several quarters from the old Tan Dong Hiep Ward and Thai Hoa Ward (Tan Uyen City).

Post-reorganization, Tan Dong Hiep Ward spans an area of 23.032 km2 and is home to 110,213 residents.

The headquarters of the Ward Party Committee, People’s Council, People’s Committee, and Fatherland Front Committee are located at 880 Nguyen Thi Minh Khai Street, Tan Thang Quarter, Tan Dong Hiep Ward, Binh Duong Province (formerly the headquarters of the Tan Binh Ward Party Committee, People’s Council, People’s Committee, and Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee).

The Military Command Headquarters is situated on Huynh Thi Tuoi Street in Tan Thang Quarter (formerly the Tan Binh Ward Military Command Headquarters), while the Police Headquarters can be found at 48 Le Hong Phong Street in Dong Thanh Quarter (formerly the headquarters of the Tan Dong Hiep Ward Party Committee, People’s Council, People’s Committee, and Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee).

In terms of personnel, the Party and mass organizations comprise 31 individuals, the People’s Committee has 64 members, and the Ward Public Service Center is staffed by 11 people.
