The Ultimate Fuel-Efficient Scooter in Vietnam: Record-Low Price at 26 Million VND, Sipping Just 1.87 Liters per 100km

In June 2025, to attract consumers, Yamaha’s most affordable scooter – the Janus – is being offered with significant dealer discounts, bringing its effective price down to that of the Honda Wave Alpha motorcycle.

Specifically, at select dealerships, the standard Yamaha Janus is now priced at just 26.3 million VND (Vietnamese Dong) for June 2025, a discount of over 2.3 million VND from its original list price. Similar discounts apply to the limited edition model, now priced at 29.8 million VND. The special edition Janus, popular among young riders for its unique design, is now offered at 30.4 million VND, a 2 million VND reduction from its original price of 32.4 million VND.

The new standard, special, and limited edition Yamaha Janus models are priced between 28.6 and 33 million VND, with the most significant discount being 676,000 VND from the original list price.

Additionally, depending on the dealership, customers who purchase a scooter during this period may also receive complimentary helmets, free oil changes, rain gear, keychains, and more.

Meanwhile, the Honda Vision, one of the most popular scooters in Vietnam, is also available at attractive prices from dealerships. The standard Honda Vision is currently offered at 31 to 31.5 million VND, depending on the region. The premium, special, and sports editions range from 33 to 37 million VND, while the classic edition is priced at 37.5 million VND. Dealerships note that these prices include VAT but exclude taxes and fees for registration.

Additionally, depending on the dealership and region, customers who purchase a Honda Vision may receive various gifts. For instance, in Dong Nai, customers receive a combo gift set that includes a helmet, raincoat, motorcycle insurance, a water bottle, a face mask, and a fuel card. In Hanoi, dealerships offer a choice between two combo gifts: two oil changes, a premium raincoat, or a helmet and a raincoat.

Notably, a Honda Head dealership in Can Tho offers a substantial gift package that includes a 1 million VND subsidy for vehicle registration, a 1 million VND shopping voucher, and a 500,000 VND gift set (including a helmet, raincoat, keychain, a 30% service discount, and a 50% oil change discount for six periodic inspections).

In the Vietnamese market, both the Honda Vision and Yamaha Janus feature compact designs with low seat heights. However, each scooter has its unique design language. The Honda Vision boasts a modern design with neutral lines and colors, making it suitable for both male and female riders. Its dimensions are 1,871mm in length, 686mm in width, and 1,101mm in height, with a seat height of 761mm and a wheelbase of 1,255mm.

On the other hand, the Yamaha Janus stands out for its dynamic, youthful, yet soft and elegant design. Its dimensions are 1,850mm in length, 705mm in width, and 1,120mm in height, with a wheelbase of 1,260mm. These dimensions are well-suited for individuals of shorter stature, especially women, making it easier to maneuver and handle the scooter.

Despite being mid-range scooters, both the Honda Vision and Yamaha Janus are equipped with a host of modern technologies and features that rival those of higher-end models.

Both scooters come with SmartKey technology for effective vehicle location and anti-theft protection. However, it’s important to note that this feature is only available on the higher-end versions of the Honda Vision and Yamaha Janus and is not included in the standard models.

Additionally, both the Janus and Vision models are equipped with halogen headlights and modern LED positioning lights. However, while all versions of the Yamaha Janus come with this feature, the standard Honda Vision does not.

Both scooters also feature a combination of analog and digital instrument clusters, displaying trip distance and fuel consumption. The Janus receives high marks in this regard, as its instrument cluster includes a clock.

In contrast, the Honda Vision boasts a larger 18-liter under-seat storage compartment compared to the Yamaha Janus’ 14 liters. Honda has also included a charging port for convenient charging of mobile devices.

Powering the 2022 Yamaha Janus is a SOHC engine with a 125cc displacement, utilizing Blue Core technology. It is air-cooled, has a 4-stroke design, and is paired with a VCT continuously variable transmission and fuel injection system. This setup delivers a maximum output of 9.4 horsepower at 8,000 rpm and a peak torque of 9.6 Nm at 5,500 rpm. According to the manufacturer, the Janus has a fuel efficiency of 1.87 liters per 100 kilometers.

The 2022 Honda Vision, on the other hand, is equipped with an eSP engine with a displacement of 109.5cc. It generates a maximum power of 6.59 kW at 7,500 rpm and a peak torque of 9.29 Nm at 6,000 rpm. This engine incorporates fuel injection technology and an idle stop system. Its fuel efficiency is rated at 1.88 liters per 100 kilometers.
