The Hanoi People’s Committee is seeking public opinion on renaming Tuoi Tre Tho Do Park as Vo Thi Sau Park for the area that has been developed and planned as a park in Thanh Nhan Ward, Hai Ba Trung District (with its main entrance on Vo Thi Sau Street). The park covers an area of 26.75 hectares.
The Tuoi Tre Tho Do Park was approved for planning by the Hanoi People’s Committee in 2000, with a total investment of over VND 280 billion, to be implemented in the 2002-2006 period.
However, an inspection by the Hanoi Department of Planning and Architecture in 2012 revealed a series of violations, including the construction of the Queen Bee Restaurant, office buildings, a tennis court, a mini-football field, and the Cung Xuan basement.
Prior to this, the Hanoi People’s Committee issued a decision on adjusting and supplementing the 2025 land use plan in Hai Ba Trung District. This included a project to revoke a portion of agricultural land to build the Tuoi Tre Tho Do Park, from the old Queen Bee gate to the planned boundary of the district’s cultural, sports, and recreation center in the northwest of the park.

The agricultural land to be revoked is located on Vo Thi Sau Street and is managed by the Dong Thanh Agricultural Cooperative. This area is currently leased for parking lots, car garages, and restaurants. These temporary structures have led to an unsightly and disorderly appearance along the street.
According to Hai Ba Trung District, a Land Clearance Council has been established for the above-mentioned project. After the revocation, the district will carry out infrastructure improvements for the park, restoring a spacious and aesthetically pleasing environment for the public. Hai Ba Trung District will also work on infrastructure connections with the surrounding area of the park, which has already been fenced and beautified.
Given the park’s prime location on Vo Thi Sau Street and the existence of a statue bearing the same name, the district has proposed renaming the park as Vo Thi Sau Park.
