Thanh Hóa has witnessed significant advancements with 31 science and technology enterprises, ranking it among the leading provinces in Vietnam. Local businesses and cooperatives have proactively embraced supportive policies, investing in new technologies to enhance productivity and product quality. Digital transformation has been extensively applied in various sectors, including electronic medical records in healthcare, electronic grade books in education, and online public services in administration, resulting in cost reduction and improved efficiency for both enterprises and government agencies.
SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY IN HARMONY WITH PRACTICAL PRODUCTION
In the Nghi Son Economic Zone, prominent businesses such as the Nghi Son Refinery and Petrochemical LLC, Hoa Sen, Tan A Dai Thanh, and VAS Nghi Son have boldly invested in modern production lines, adopting smart manufacturing management and quality control through specialized software. Automation and digitalization in operations not only conserve energy and reduce emissions but also enhance the competitiveness of their products in the international market.
In agriculture, Tri Duc Cooperative in Xuan Du commune, Nhu Thanh district, stands out as a pioneer in digital transformation. Their hydroponic vegetable farming model utilizes an automated irrigation system, environmental monitoring sensors, and centralized management software, resulting in a 30-40% increase in productivity, cost reduction, and VietGAP-certified produce, which is contracted by enterprises. This serves as a testament to the successful support for businesses in adopting advanced technology in agricultural production.
Notably, the Thanh Hoa Department of Science and Technology is managing 172 provincial-level science and technology tasks, with approximately 30% of them focused on technology transfer and advanced techniques to enhance product quality. Numerous production facilities have been trained to implement management systems, productivity improvement tools, and standardized production processes.

Trung Thanh Agricultural Product Processing Joint Stock Company (Nong Cong district) is an exemplary beneficiary of these support programs. With the provided funds, the company has invested in automation equipment, increasing capacity, reducing labor costs, and improving product design and quality. As a result, their canned pineapple products under the Truong Tung brand have attained the 4-star OCOP standard and are exported to multiple international markets.
The company’s director, Mr. Le Truong Tung, shared, “With the support of science and technology funding and the company’s efforts, we have equipped ourselves with modern machinery, increased capacity, reduced labor costs, and met the requirements for product design and quality.”
CAPITALIZING ON HUMAN RESOURCES AND COLLABORATION
Thanh Hoa province has also focused on building a high-quality workforce in science and technology. Various training and capacity-building programs for officials have been implemented, and technical and technological specialized education in universities and colleges has been enhanced. Currently, over 1,200 individuals are working in the field of science, directly contributing to research, invention, and technology transfer in production.
Additionally, Thanh Hoa has actively attracted talented individuals from prominent domestic and foreign universities and promoted international cooperation with organizations such as JICA (Japan), KOICA (South Korea), and GIZ (Germany) for engineer training and technology transfer, aiming towards green, smart, and sustainable production.
Furthermore, the “Four Houses” linkage model (“House of State,” “House of Scientists,” “House of Enterprises,” and “House of Farmers”) continues to be encouraged to synergize resources effectively and accelerate the application of science and technology in practice.
In the future, Thanh Hoa province will continue to refine its mechanisms and policies to support enterprises in technological innovation, develop research and development (R&D) systems, and establish a provincial-level innovation center. Simultaneously, investments in technology incubators, open innovation networks, and collaborations with international research organizations will be strengthened to promote the sustainable development of local enterprises based on knowledge and technology.
With the right direction and synchronized efforts from management agencies and the business community, science and technology are becoming a solid foundation for Thanh Hoa enterprises to enhance their competitiveness, deeply integrate, and assert their position in both domestic and international markets.
