SCG Packaging Public Company Limited (SCGP), a subsidiary of Thailand’s SCG Group, has completed the acquisition of an additional 30% stake in Nhựa Duy Tân, taking its ownership to 100%.

According to a disclosure filed with the Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET) on June 9, the transaction was carried out through SCGP Rigid Packaging Solutions Pte. Ltd. (SCGPRPS), a wholly-owned subsidiary of SCGP. The total value of the transaction was VND 2,825 billion, implying a valuation of over VND 9,400 billion for Nhựa Duy Tân.

With this acquisition, SCGP officially owns all of Nhựa Duy Tân, one of the leading manufacturers of rigid plastic packaging in Vietnam, known for its high-quality, branded, and profitable products.

SCGP stated that full ownership of Duy Tân will enable the company to expand its integrated packaging solutions offerings and enhance operational efficiency in the Vietnamese market. SCGP noted that the transaction size accounts for only 1.98% of its consolidated total assets as of March 31, 2025.

In 2024, Nhựa Duy Tân recorded revenue of VND 5,381 billion and a net profit of VND 578 billion, with total assets reaching VND 4,627 billion.

Prior to this transaction, SCGP, a subsidiary of Thailand’s SCG Group, acquired 70% of Nhựa Duy Tân in February 2021 for VND 6,400 billion. The founder of Nhựa Duy Tân, entrepreneur Trần Duy Hy, retained the recycled plastic business with two subsidiaries, Nhựa Tái Chế Duy Tân and Plascene, along with 18 other member companies.

SCG has had a presence in Vietnam since 1992 and has undertaken numerous M&A deals with Vietnamese enterprises. Currently, SCG has 27 subsidiary companies operating in Vietnam, employing more than 16,000 people and offering a range of premium products and services to the market.

The Thai conglomerate currently holds 55% of Nhựa Bình Minh through its subsidiary, The Nawaplastic Industries (Saraburi) Co., Ltd. SCG also owns several other building materials brands, including Prime Group, a leading manufacturer of ceramic tiles in Vietnam.

In the packaging industry, SCG acquired 80% of CTCP Bao bì nhựa Tín Thành (Batico) in 2015. In 2020, SCG Solutions Pte. Ltd (Singapore), a subsidiary of SCG, purchased 94.11% of Bao bì Biên Hòa (Sovi). In 2021, SCG bought an additional 70% stake in Nhựa Duy Tân.

In its first-quarter report for this year, SCG reported global revenue of THB 124.4 billion, up 0.1% from the same period last year but down 5% from the fourth quarter of 2025.

According to the report, Thailand, SCG’s home market, was its largest source of revenue, contributing THB 70.1 billion, or 56% of the total. Vietnam was the second largest market, accounting for 8% or approximately THB 9.95 billion (over VND 6,800 billion). Other significant markets included Indonesia with 7%, China with 4%, and Cambodia with 2%.
