According to the Quang Ninh Department of Culture, Sports, and Tourism, in the first six months of the year, the province welcomed 35 international cruise ships, bringing nearly 50,000 tourists, a 25% increase compared to the same period last year.
Usually, the peak season for cruise tourism lasts from September of the previous year to April of the current year. However, this year, even during the summer off-peak season, Quang Ninh continues to be a preferred destination for many international cruise passengers. This demonstrates the stable appeal and growing attractiveness of Quang Ninh tourism on the regional cruise map.
Cruise passengers to Quang Ninh come from diverse international markets, including the United States, Germany, the United Kingdom, France, Japan, China, and other European and Asian countries.

When docking in Quang Ninh, passengers can experience a range of tourism activities such as visiting Ha Long Bay, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, exploring the modern city of Ha Long, indulging in seafood delicacies, and relaxing at luxury resorts.
Additionally, some tours take visitors to Yen Duc village in Dong Trieu town, where they can learn about the traditional culture and local life of the people in the Northeast region.
This year, for the first time, Quang Ninh welcomed a group of Japanese tourists on a chartered cruise ship, carrying approximately 1,700 passengers to Ha Long. This positive signal comes from one of the key international markets for Quang Ninh tourism, a market with high-spending potential. The event marks another milestone for Quang Ninh as the top cruise ship destination in Vietnam.

With its modern and synchronized transportation infrastructure, including air, sea, and cross-provincial highways, Quang Ninh holds a significant advantage in receiving international cruise ships.
Notably, the Ha Long International Passenger Port, the only specialized international cruise port in Vietnam, has become a familiar destination for many leading global cruise lines. The consecutive arrivals of international cruise ships during the summer months present Quang Ninh with opportunities to promote year-round cruise tourism development.
Since 2024, cruise tourism in Quang Ninh has shown positive signs of recovery, with a significant increase in international visitors. It is expected that in 2025, Quang Ninh will welcome approximately 70 cruise ships carrying nearly 90,000 international passengers from key markets such as Europe, the United States, Australia, and Northeast Asia, a 30% increase compared to 2024.

Along with the return of well-known luxury cruise ships such as Celebrity Solstice, Mein Schiff 6, and Westerdam, this year also introduces new cruise ships like Brilliant Lady, Luminara, and Pacific World, bringing tourists to explore the highlights of Quang Ninh, including Ha Long Bay, Ha Long City, Yen Tu, and Dong Trieu.
It is forecasted that in the following years, the number of cruise passengers to Ha Long will increase by 15-20% with the regular presence of major cruise lines.
In 2025, Quang Ninh aims to welcome 20 million tourists, including over 4.5 million international visitors. With positive signals from the cruise tourism segment and key markets, along with intensified promotion and marketing efforts towards the end of the year, the Quang Ninh tourism industry is expected to achieve and even surpass its set goals.
