Unleashing the Power of Weeds: The Rise of Tribulus Terrestris

In rural areas, certain weeds with robust growth are often seen as a nuisance by farmers. One such weed is Tribulus terrestris, commonly known as puncture vine, which has long been considered a pest by farmers across the globe.

This resilient plant can be found growing wild in various regions of Vietnam, particularly from Nghe An and Quang Binh provinces onwards, as well as in several southern provinces. Additionally, it is native to some Asian countries, including China, and can also be found in Africa.

While farmers once despised this plant, it has now become a valuable commodity for those in the know. In reality, Tribulus terrestris is a precious herb, especially beneficial for supporting and enhancing male reproductive health.

The dried fruits of Tribulus terrestris have medicinal properties recognized in both traditional and modern medicine. According to traditional Vietnamese medicine, this herb has a bitter and pungent taste, a slightly warm nature, and is mildly toxic. It is believed to act on the liver and lung meridians, and is used to treat ailments such as headaches, dizziness, mastitis, chest abscesses, wind-dampness, itching, and conjunctivitis.

In the traditional medicine of Vietnam, India, and China, Tribulus terrestris is used to support male health and treat conditions such as debility, emaciation, kidney deficiency, low sperm count, and weak sperm.

In China, the demand for dried Tribulus terrestris fruit has been increasing year after year, with current market prices reaching 40 CNY (approximately 141,000 VND) per kilogram. In Vietnam, the price of this herb is also high, ranging from 220,000 to 240,000 VND per kilogram. Tribulus terrestris has transformed from a neglected weed to a sought-after commodity, valued by consumers for its potential health benefits.
