The Hanoi People’s Committee Office has released a statement regarding the upcoming construction of the Ngọc Hồi Bridge and its access roads. Chairman of the Hanoi People’s Committee, Tran Sy Thanh, has directed the Hanoi Transportation Project Management Board to immediately commence the pre-qualification of domestic and international EPC contractors for the project. The total investment for the Ngọc Hồi Bridge project is over VND 11,800 billion.
A Bridge with a Unique Architectural Design
Earlier in mid-April, the Hanoi People’s Committee approved the competition results for the architectural design of the Ngọc Hồi Bridge. The “Sun Gate” proposal, submitted by the Joint Stock Company for Bridge and Tunnel Design Consultancy, was awarded first place. This design not only excels in technical aspects but also carries profound cultural and aesthetic significance.

With its east-west orientation, the Ngọc Hồi Bridge will offer unique views of the sunrise and sunset throughout the year.

The bridge’s alignment with the sun’s path will create breathtaking moments when the sun rises and sets directly along its axis.

The “Sun Gate” concept embraces the unique solar phenomenon, welcoming and bidding farewell to the sun each day.

The letter “H” is subtly incorporated into the bridge’s architecture, symbolizing the harmony and cooperation between Hanoi and Hung Yen.

The overall form of the bridge is defined by bold, streamlined contours, with the vertical piers, horizontal deck, and diagonal suspension cables creating a balanced and robust composition.

The bridge’s lighting design includes specially inclined street lamps that echo the suspension cables, creating a radiant sunburst effect. The bridge’s railings will also feature sun-inspired motifs, further emphasizing the “Sun Gate” concept.
