During the visit, ACV’s leadership reported to the Deputy Prime Minister on the progress of completing the remaining items, including exterior landscaping, signage, passenger guidance systems, auxiliary information technology infrastructure, electrical lighting, fire protection, and external transportation infrastructure connections.

Furthermore, ACV’s leadership emphasized their focus on thoroughly reviewing the operational and technical systems before official operations, and addressing water leakage and seepage issues that occurred in some areas of the terminal after heavy rainfall. They have implemented comprehensive waterproofing measures, reinforced the roof drainage system, and enhanced the monitoring of technical connections, with close attention to future weather conditions.

Deputy Minister of Construction, Pham Minh Ha, reported that the State Council for Construction Project Acceptance is conducting acceptance procedures for each item in accordance with legal regulations, ensuring criteria for load-bearing safety, technical systems, fire protection, evacuation, and practical operating conditions.

The relevant units are also coordinating closely to complete the synchronized acceptance of the entire project as soon as possible.

The Deputy Prime Minister instructed ACV to promptly complete the remaining items of Terminal 3 and thoroughly address the technical issues that have arisen in a meticulous and comprehensive manner. This ensures a smooth official launch without surprises or risks, maintaining the reputation of Tan Son Nhat International Airport and the nation as a whole.

Terminal 3 of Tan Son Nhat International Airport is one of 80 key projects nationwide that were inaugurated or commenced simultaneously on April 19. With a design capacity of 20 million passengers per year, it is expected to significantly relieve the burden on Terminal 1 and enhance passenger services at the airport.

The terminal features a basement and four floors, spanning an area of 112,500 square meters. It boasts 27 aircraft contact stands, including 13 using passenger boarding bridges and 14 using bus gates, along with six outbound baggage claim islands and ten inbound baggage claim carousels.

Following the occurrence of some defects during the initial operation, in May 2025, the Minister of Construction, Tran Hong Minh, issued an urgent dispatch to the Vietnam Airports Corporation (ACV) and Tan Son Nhat International Airport regarding the completion and rectification of deficiencies in the operation and exploitation of Terminal 3.

The Minister of Construction specifically instructed them to pay attention to completely overcoming the situation of rainwater leakage from the glass roof to the floor of the check-in and waiting hall areas; and to have a plan and solution to ensure safe operation during the rainy season.

At the same time, the dispatch requested the direction of the contractors and coordination with the owner and user of the work to comprehensively review the work, timely detect possible problems in the process of exploiting the work to have preventive measures, avoiding similar situations, ensuring the function and safe operation of the work.
