Apple has officially designated the iPhone XS as “vintage,” adding it to the vintage products list on its website. According to Apple’s regulations, a product is considered vintage after it has been discontinued from the market for at least five years. While Apple stores and authorized service providers can still repair these devices, it depends on the availability of parts.
Introduced in September 2018, the iPhone XS was discontinued just a year later. However, it continued to be sold by some retailers until recently, when it officially reached the five-year mark to be categorized as vintage. Over the next two years, the iPhone XS will be deemed obsolete, and Apple will discontinue providing services for this device.

iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max
Prior to this, in November 2024, Apple classified the iPhone XS Max as a vintage product. The iPhone XS was considered a minor upgrade from the iPhone X, featuring enhancements such as a faster A12 Bionic chip, improved cameras, and dual SIM support. Meanwhile, the iPhone XS Max stood out with its large 6.5-inch display.
Apple has also transitioned the iPad 5 from the vintage to the obsolete list today. Additionally, Apple has included a small note on its website advising owners of the 2018 Mac mini to check with authorized service providers to determine the service status for this computer, despite this model being added to the vintage list just a few months ago.
