Rach Bò-Bắc Kênh Đôi: Anticipating a Revitalized Future
The Ho Chi Minh City Urban Infrastructure Investment Project Management Unit (Urban Infrastructure Unit), the investor, shared that they are expediting the preparation of construction drawings and estimates for the project’s packages. It is anticipated that Package 2 will commence in September 2025, followed by Package 1 and Package 3 in October 2025.
In terms of compensation and site clearance, the Urban Infrastructure Unit revealed that approximately 5.58 hectares of land will be reclaimed, impacting around 1,617 households. Out of these, 1,020 households will be completely relocated, while 597 will be partially affected.
The People’s Committee of District 8 is actively implementing compensation, support, and resettlement policies. The Urban Infrastructure Unit has transferred VND 5,458 billion to the District 8 Compensation and Site Clearance Unit for payment to the affected households.

Over 1,600 households are affected by the project.
As of early June 2025, 1,089 out of 1,617 affected households have agreed to the compensation, support, and resettlement plans. The compensation process is underway, with approximately VND 466 billion disbursed so far, and 104 households have handed over the site.
The project, with a total investment of over VND 7,400 billion, will stretch across Wards 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, and 14 in District 8. It involves constructing over 4.3 km of dike along Kênh Đôi, partially dredging the canal to improve flow and environmental sanitation, and widening two canal-side roads, Hoài Thanh and Nguyễn Duy, to 20 meters, enhancing intra-district traffic connectivity.
Additionally, the project encompasses significant infrastructure components: the construction of Nguyễn Duy extended road (16 meters wide, from alley 157 Hưng Phú to Chữ Y Bridge), Hiệp Ân 2 Bridge, and more.
