The Danang Free Trade Area spans approximately 1,881 hectares across non-contiguous locations, encompassing various functional zones for production, logistics, commerce, and services; digital industry, information technology, and innovation; and other types as stipulated by law.

The Danang Free Trade Area is master-planned and developed upon a foundation of modern, integrated infrastructure across manufacturing, commerce, logistics, technology, and high-quality services. It aims to become a regional economic hub and a strategic growth pole for Central Vietnam and the entire country in the new development context.

The long-term vision is to establish the Danang Free Trade Area as a crucial link in the global and Asia-Pacific supply chain network. It will serve as a production center and international freight forwarding hub, integrated with Lien Chieu Port and Danang International Airport, and connected to the East-West Economic Corridor. This will promote the development of high-tech industries, innovation, and digital transformation, significantly contributing to the sustainable and deeply integrated economic restructuring of the new Danang city after its merger with Quang Nam province.

Simultaneously, the development of the Danang Free Trade Area is linked to the International Financial Center in Danang city, forming a modern, intelligent, and highly competitive economic ecosystem with far-reaching impacts. This initiative aims to elevate Vietnam’s standing in the region and on the international stage in the context of globalization.

The Production-Logistics Functional Area will evolve into a modern production and logistics hub, integrating technical and digital infrastructure to enhance productivity and connectivity with regional and global supply chains.

In terms of manufacturing, the focus is on industries that employ modern and advanced technology, following the model of green industry, biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, energy, and renewable energy; aeronautics, and the creation of other high-value-added products.

Multimodal logistics services, associated ancillary and support services, and other logistics offerings will be oriented towards modernity, applying digital technologies and automation to generate high added value. These services will cater to the production activities within the Free Trade Area and facilitate international freight forwarding. We will promote the use of digital technologies and smart management in logistics operations and supply chains.

The Commercial-Service Functional Area will establish an international-standard commercial and service space to facilitate trade, duty-free shopping, tourism, resorts, and accommodation services. It will also provide business support services, logistics, e-commerce, education, healthcare, entertainment, sports, and other auxiliary services to foster the development of a knowledge-based economy and regional connectivity.

The Digital Industry, Information Technology, and Innovation Functional Area, along with other designated zones, will emerge as a center of excellence for high technology and innovation, attracting digital technology enterprises, R&D centers, creative startups, and digital transformation initiatives. This will enhance the competitiveness of the region and the nation in the global digital economy. New technology fields such as artificial intelligence, semiconductors, big data, cloud computing, the Internet of Things, blockchain, R&D, renewable energy, innovation ecosystems, fintech, startups, training, e-commerce, and other support services such as accounting, legal consulting, arbitration, and dispute resolution will be fostered. Office rentals, accommodation services, restaurants, sports facilities, entertainment, exhibitions, and related services will also be available.

The Decision clearly states that the operations, mechanisms, policies, and management of the Danang Free Trade Area shall comply with the provisions of Resolution No. 136 and other relevant legal documents.
