On June 14th, in response to media inquiries regarding Brazil’s announcement of Vietnam’s official membership in the BRICS group, the Spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Vietnam, Pham Thu Hang, emphasized that Vietnam, with its proactive and comprehensive international integration policy, has, is, and will continue to make practical contributions to multilateral mechanisms, organizations, and forums. Vietnam’s participation fosters peace, stability, cooperation, and development in the region and the world.

“Along with actively participating in multilateral mechanisms such as the United Nations, the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC), the Group of Seven (G7) expanded, the Group of Twenty (G20) expanded, and the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), Vietnam becomes a BRICS Partner with the aspiration to contribute, enhance the voice and role of developing countries, promote international solidarity, and inclusive multilateralism in the spirit of respect for international law.”
This also affirms Vietnam’s consistent foreign policy of independence, self-reliance, multilateralization, and diversification of foreign relations. Vietnam strives to be a trusted partner and an active, responsible member of the international community.
